With the belief that they were there when we needed them, so we must be there now that they need us, Veterans Inc., the largest provider of supportive services to Veterans and their families in New England is seeking a Sous Chef to become a valued member of the Veterans Inc. team!\n
This position will involve directing and monitoring safe food preparation, food safety, and sanitization requirements, observing methods of food handling, preparation, meal service, and equipment cleaning. Will receive and safely store deliveries, assist with inventory practices, and run the food pantry.
The schedule for this position is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, and will be split between our Worcester and Shrewsbury locations.\n
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY:\n
\u2022Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of multiple kitchens.
\u2022Assists with maintaining kitchen appliances and calls vendors as needed.
\u2022Assists with monitoring the cafeteria and kitchen's daily duties.
\u2022Point of contact when the Food Services Manager is unavailable.
\u2022Assists with inventory and food donation management.
\u2022Performs and conducts proper maintenance of food storage areas, dating all food items in the storage room (FIFO).
\u2022Enforces ServSafe food services health and safety guidelines and proper food handling and storage practices.Comply with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards.
\u2022Assists with overseeing volunteer coordination for food distribution. This includes the food donation volunteer book and volunteers serving meals at all sites.
\u2022Assists with catered food & special company events and staff meetings.
\u2022Responsible for food preparation according to a pre-planned menu.
\u2022Responsible for cooking, serving pre-planned meals, record keeping, and supervision of kitchen volunteers.
\u2022Assists with unpacking, labeling, storing, and rotating food and disposables.
\u2022Assists in the maintenance, cleanliness, and sanitization of refrigeration\/freezer units, steam tables, beverage dispensers, dining room tables, cupboards, shelves\/racks, work surfaces, cooking equipment, dishes, utensils, appliances, and storage areas.
\u2022Reports appliance\/equipment failures promptly.
\u2022Assist with periodic inventory checks and perform other functions such as maintaining records to comply with Veterans Inc., government, state, and local standards.
\u2022Point of Contact for Worcester County Food Bank pick-ups and drop-offs.
\u2022Will need to be comfortable driving a box truck to and from food pick-ups.
\u2022Cooks as needed.

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:\n\nMinimum of high school diploma or equivalent required. Culinary Arts Certificate, or other related fields, preferred.\nMinimum of 4 years of experience in the Food Services Industry.\nThe ability and skill to cater to up to 300+ people groups is a plus.\nCPR certified and AED\/First Aid Certified or willing to attend both pieces of training. ServSafe Manager, Mass Allergen Awareness certifications are required.\nA driver's license is required, and a DOT physical is needed to drive a box truck.\nKnowledge of Worcester County Food Bank operations or prior experience with the organization.\nAttention to detail, excellent communication, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask are all fundamental attributes this individual should have.
\nMust be able to successfully pass a CORI\/Background records check.\nCompliance with Veterans Inc. COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. Religious and Medical Exemptions are considered.\n\n
