Sigmatech, Inc. is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Space Strategic Communications Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Space Acquisition and Integration (SAF/SQ) in Arlington, VA. SAF/SQ has overall responsibility for Department of the Air Force (DAF) space systems acquisition and architectures oversight as well as integration of allied, civil, and commercial space capabilities into United States Space Force (USSF) architectures. These responsibilities are carried out in close collaboration with the Chief of Space Operations (CSO) and the USSF staff. SAF/SQ also serves as the Space Service Acquisition Executive (SAE) and oversees and directs the activities of the Space Rapid Capabilities Office (SpRCO), Space Systems Command (SSC), and the Space Development Agency (SDA). SAF/SQ’s guiding objectives are to (1) drive speed into space acquisitions, (2) make our space architecture more resilient, (3) integrate our space architecture with other war fighting domains, (4) drive program management discipline across our acquisitions, and (5) ensure that space and ground acquisitions are time phased to optimize operational availability. Achieving these objectives requires a workforce with broadly diverse and deep skills in system engineering, program management, architecture analysis, program planning and budgeting, and executive level communications and support.
Responsibilities shall include but are not limited to:
+ Providing support and expertise in planning and preparing industry engagement packages related to defense space policies, priorities, and congressional matters across the National Security Space (NSS) enterprise.
+ Conducting research and analysis regarding the space industrial base to write, edit, and qualitatively and quantitatively evaluate executive communications to ensure products are in alignment with public communication efforts.
+ Delivering high level expertise to ensure that complex, potentially controversial, and politically sensitive issues are appropriately articulated to multiple, pre-determined audiences, and amplified via appropriate communications channels.
+ Developing and delivering industry engagement and defense conference products aimed at informing and influencing various audiences – internal and external – through numerous fora and all types of media.
+ Creating time sensitive deliverables that are strategic, well researched, tailored to the audiences and rapidly adapted to meet changing environments and SAF/SQ goals.
+ Assisting in research, analysis, and interviews for speeches; interviews; social media content, conference presentations; executive summaries; reports; articles for publication in professional magazines, journals, and other media outlets; newsletters; news releases; notes and other correspondence.
+ Providing assistance to special projects and assignments, such as preparing congressional testimony, written products, and information papers on a wide variety of issues with audiences at the highest level of the nation’s civilian and military leadership.
+ Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with NSS stakeholder space system developers, operators, companies, and the suppliers who support the NSS enterprise.
+ Maintaining historical space program documentation and developing summary documents/briefings as required.
+ Working logistical requirements associated with industry engagement events which may include security, access, parking, building binders, escorting, scheduling, note taking, and read aheads.
+ Initiating innovative ways to capture long term data collection of industry engagements for better integration.
+ Providing short notice, quick-reaction analyses of critical issues in the context of Congressional, OSD Staff, Joint Staff, HQ USSF, Major Air Command (MAJCOM), allied, and commercial activities especially as it relates to industrial engagements by senior leaders.
+ Monitoring on-going studies, analyses, and developmental work relevant to space systems.
Required Experience:
Required skills for the most junior positions include but are not limited to:
+ Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity with the DAF, Industry, and USSF in the areas of acquisition, architectures, requirements, strategy, programs, and/or operations.
+ Demonstrated experience working with DAF, allied, civil, and commercial space capability developers and operators.
+ Demonstrated HQ level staff or staff support experience.
+ Demonstrated initiative and ability to plan, work, and deliver independently.
+ Demonstrated ability to interact with staff members and executive leadership effectively and professionally via both verbal and written means.
Required experience for the most junior positions include but are not limited to:
+ Bachelor's Degree in a scientific, technical, policy, communications, or other relevant field.
+ At least two years of relevant work experience in a similar discipline.
+ U.S. citizenship and an active TS clearance with SCI eligibility.
