Department Summary:
MITRE’s Space Domain Awareness (SDA) and Protection Department (N112) works with its government sponsors across space warfighting, acquisition and other mission partners to improve actionable warfighter decisions through enhanced battlespace awareness and reduced timelines achieved by improved sensing and protection against threats. Department projects focus on system integration efforts to successfully incorporate new technologies and software applications in support of a resilient Space enterprise infrastructure, sensing, and an integrated command and control (C2) system. N112 also performs numerous sensor system prototyping and analysis activities including modeling, software tool development, and analysis capabilities designed to enable MITRE and sponsor-driven analysis and research across multiple customers, missions, and technology providers. The research, development, and outcomes of these efforts provide high-quality, comprehensive, quantitative insights for senior government decision makers shaping the future of our nation’s Space policy, operations, and systems.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Generating, decomposing, and reviewing system requirements for current and future United States Space Force (USSF) and Department of Defense (DoD) systems and systems-of-systemsModeling system requirements, behaviors and interfaces through Digital Engineering processes and tools to highlight dependencies, efficiencies, opportunities, and risksPerform operational analysis in support of USSF mission capabilitiesSupporting systems development, analysis, and testingDeveloping and evaluating system designs and architectures, including through scenario driven analysisDeveloping technical prototypes to convey opportunities, gaps, and risks to MITRE sponsors, end users, and stakeholdersAuthoring and contributing to technical papers and presentations that can communicate such activities as architecture designs, Analysis of Alternatives, informational presentations, and technical analysisCollaborating with other engineers across MITRE’s organizations in order to coordinate development efforts, bring the expertise of others to bear on projects, and to ensure common standards of product quality.Basic Qualifications:
