We have an exciting opportunity for a Spacecraft Navigation Engineer to join the team with McLaurin Aerospace, a teammate company.

Our long-term client relationship with NASA has led to the need for a Spacecraft Navigation Engineer to support the development, testing and verification of navigation algorithms/systems. 

The selected applicant will\: 

Support development of navigation algorithms for an integrated GN&C system for NASA spacecraft Support testing and analysis of navigation algorithms in a 6-DOF GN&C environment Develop and apply custom data models and algorithms to data sets Utilize object-oriented software skills to efficiently utilize large data sets to perform verification and validation analyses of navigation flight software Utilize Hardware-in-the-Loop data to verify navigation flight software Perform analyses in support of operational flight rule development Formally document the results of all design and analysis activities Perform other duties as required *

Requisition Qualifications\:

Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering with experience in the field or in a related area. Knowledge in the design, analysis, and/or implementation of navigation algorithms Familiarity with relative navigation concepts Experience with spacecraft simulation modeling and analysis of integrated GN&C systems Extensive experience programming in Python Knowledge of inertial measurement units, GPS, star trackers, sun sensors, and barometric altimeters Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment consisting of NASA civil servants and various contractor employees​

Requisition Preferences\:

A Bachelor's degree in Aerospace engineering from an ABET accredited engineering school and a minimum of five (5) years of related engineering experience, or a Master's degree from an accredited engineering school and three (3) years of related engineering experience, or Ph.D. from an accredited engineering school and zero (0) years of related experience. Object oriented software development skills. Experience with NASA/TRICK simulation environment. Proficiency with C/C Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink. Hardware-in-the-loop lab data handling experience Safety and flight critical embedded software development. Coursework and/or in-depth knowledge of\: Extended Kalman Filtering Linear and non-linear state estimation theory Linear covariance analysis AI & Machine Learning Numerical methods
Astrodynamics Agile software development experience

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

Other Essential Functions

Professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
