Maxar Intelligence is currently seeking a Spacecraft Software Engineer Flight Software Engineer to join our team in Westminster, CO working on the spacecraft software for Maxar’s industry-leading Worldview Legion satellites.

Your Project: Maxar’s constellation of low-earth orbit earth observation satellites are renowned across the industry for their ability to capture imagery that both inspires and informs our understanding of our living planet.  You will be responsible for development on the embedded software that operates these satellites, enabling them with new mission-enhancing capabilities. Your primary responsibility will be to generate code, but you will also be intimately involved in debugging, integration, and operational testing.

What you'll do day-to-day:

Duties will be commensurate with level, ranging from more senior engineers working on architectural / structural projects and overseeing mid-junior level engineers while junior engineers will learn about our spacecraft and systems via smaller projects initially.

Design, develop, debug, and document, software implementations consist with functional and performance requirements and architectural guidelines.

Work within an agile team structure leveraging cloud and automated CI/CD code building and test pipelines.

Author and execute unit level and open loop test suites and procedures to ensure software system requirements are met.

Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, processes and system-specific issues.

Minimum requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree

Minimum of 5-15 years of software development experience depending on position level

Expert embedded C++ programing skills on multicore-processor architecture

Experience in one or more of these areas:

Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC)

Fault Detection, Isolation, and Recovery (FDIR)

Thermal systems

Command and telemetry processing

Embedded systems architecture

Infrastructure – I/O, RTOS, device drivers, hardware interfaces

These skills would be amazing:

Master’s degree in related field

Worked on satellite software development from inception to launch

Experience with large-scale satellite software development projects

In support of pay transparency at Maxar, we disclose salary ranges on all of our U.S. job postings. We use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range. To accommodate all locations, we have listed the bottom to the top of the possible range, and will share the target range for a specific location during the recruiting discussion. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidates unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:

$145,000.00 - $307,000.00 annually.

Additionally, this position is incentive eligible with a target based on contribution, company performance, and/or individual results achieved; the specific incentive plan and target amount will be determined based on the role and breadth of contributions.
