Special Education Paraprofessional at New Story Schools

New Story Schools is seeking a qualified Special Education Tutor/Behavior Technician to teach and mentor students as part of the Outreach Program. Special Education Tutors/Behavior Technicians work 1:1 in home and community settings with students on the Autism Spectrum focusing on addressing IEP goals. Programming may address academic, behavioral, and vocational goals.

Job Responsibilities:       

Apply the principals of behavior science to tutor students  Run data-driven practice as assigned  Implement “Precision Teaching” and/or discrete-trial training  Record accurate data  Use data to make decisions  Use explicit instruction as assigned  Apply “Mathetics” to daily instruction  Implement direct instruction programs and techniques  Perform habit training duties  Manage students as assigned   Implement principles of behavioral science to effectively manage student behavior  Adhere to the behavior management tier assigned to each student  Supervise and execute school activities inside and outside the learning environment  Arrange and maintain a safe and effective learning environment  Implement data-based decision making as assigned  Use formal academic and behavior data to assist with interventions  Submit all data and records by established deadlines 

Qualifications: 

At least 18 years of age  Associate's Degree  A genuine passion for working with children, along with patience and compassion 

Preferred/Nice to have: 

Experience working with children with special needs or autism through volunteer work, employment, or other relevant experiences
