Special Education Supervisor JobID: 1492 + Position Type: ADMINISTRATOR - PDE CERTIFIED/ SPECIAL EDUCATION SUPERVISOR + Date Posted: 9/25/2024 + Location: Schnecksville, PA    Position Definition: TheSupervisor of Special Programs and Servicesis responsible for supervising and coordinating the special education programs/services to which he/she is assigned. Relationship: TheSupervisor of Special Programs and Servicesshall be responsible to the Assistant Director of Special Programs and Services based on assignment. Qualifications: Education/Experience: + PDE Supervisor of Special Education Certificate, preferred. + PDE Principal Certificate with 3 years special education supervision experience will be considered. + Dually PDE Certified Principal and Special Education Supervisor, preferred. + Minimum 3 years special education supervisory experience, preferred. Skills/Knowledge: + Demonstrates leadership ability. + Demonstrates the ability to make professional decisions. + Demonstrates organizational skills. + Demonstrates the ability to maintain confidentiality. + Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills. + Demonstrates the ability to work independently and meet deadlines. + Demonstrates interpersonal skills for dealing with staff through patience, consistency, fairness, and understanding. + Demonstrates the ability to conduct a thorough and fair investigation. + Demonstrates the ability to manage personnel through the use of procedures and consistent decision making. + Demonstrates a proficient understanding and utilization of Microsoft Office Suite and other software packages for use in the Special Programs and Services department. + Demonstrates the ability to interpret and implement knowledge of federal and state special education standards, and CLIU #21 Board Policies. + Proficient data collection, data reporting, and data interpretation skills. + Demonstrates the ability to act as a liaison with constituent schools and agencies. + Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively with staff, co-workers, community members, parents, board members, schools, agencies, and administration. + Demonstrates the ability to successfully address emergency situations that pose a risk to the well-being, safety, and security of students and staff. + Demonstrates the ability to remain professional under pressure. + Demonstrates the ability to attend work regularly at assigned work hours subject to lawful leave rights and responsibilities. Functions/Duties/Responsibilities:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function/duty/responsibility at acceptable standards. Essential: + Oversees teachers in preparing and maintaining ongoing instructional programs including appropriate supportive services. + Assesses curriculum effectiveness and implements change when necessary. + Supervises and evaluates professional and paraprofessional performances in an effective and fair manner. + Provides staff development through effective supervision. + Participates in the planning and development of appropriate programs and services for special education, nonpublic schools and correctional facilities. + Consults with school district personnel and corrections contacts regarding special education, nonpublic, and corrections programming. + Supervises the appropriate steps in the referral-placement process. + Recruits, screens, and recommends staff for employment in areas for which responsible. + Establishes working relationships with parents, school personnel, agency personnel, and the community. + Approves the placement and individual educational program for students placed in programs under his/her supervision. + Assesses program needs and staffing and makes recommendations for new programs or revisions to current programs. + Provides assistance and direction to professional staff regarding program implementation including all aspects of identification, assessment, scheduling, placement, and record keeping for students in classrooms and itinerant programs. + Assists in the development of the budget and maintains monitoring of the budget for all aspects of programs under his/her supervision. + Schedules regular team meetings for staff, parent conferences, IEP team meetings as deemed by the supervisor. + Maintains appropriate records for assigned programs and services. Secondary: + Participates in the planning and development of special programs and projects. + Participates in the orientation for new staff. + Participates in the development of a comprehensive inservice plan. + Maintains professional knowledge through review of professional literature, attendance at workshops, field visitations, research, and formal study. + Approves schedules and caseloads and supervises such schedules to ensure they are maintained effectively. + Performs other duties as assigned by the Director and/or Assistant Director of Special Programs and Services.
