Purpose:
The position provides one on one support for individual students with disabilities within the school setting. The main role will be to support a student with academic and functional needs within their educational program, as well as playground and cafeteria supervision.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
+ Knowledge of basic academic school subjects.
+ Knowledge of cultural competencies, classroom management, and student engagement practices.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain Maine Ed Tech I, II or Ill Certification.
+ Ability to collaborate effectively with students, colleagues, and families.
+ Ability to supervise student activities , providing a safe and supportive environment.
+ Ability to maintain effective relationships with students.
+ Ability to prepare clear and concise written and/or computer generated reports.
+ Ability to motivate students and develop appropriate rapport with staff and students.
+ Ability to be flexible in work assignments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
+ High School Graduate or equivalent and one (1) year experience working with children in an educational setting.
Preference will be given to those who possess an Educational Technician Certificate in accordance with Title 20-A §13019-H.
