Essential Functions: The Manager, Special Events is responsible for all aspects of hospital events including planning, management, and execution of major fundraising events, internal events, open houses and grand openings, experience and logistics planning for visiting groups to the hospital, and other events. Manages event expenses and budget, supervision of event staff and/or volunteers, planning all details and logistics and evaluating effectiveness. Works with members of Marketing and Communications, Development, Human Resources, Child Life, Volunteer Services, and other departments of the hospital as the lead for all official hospital events. Serves as the liaison to external organizations regarding special events, including partner organizations, visiting organizations to the hospital, special event partners or venues, vendors, etc.

Job Qualifications:   

EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

Required: 5 years of progressive experience in Special event management and marketing or fundraising activities.Preferred: Hospital and/or Managerial experience.


EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

Required: Bachelor's Degree Marketing, Communications or equivalent.Preferred: Master's Degree Marketing, Communications or equivalent.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

A deep understanding of best practices in event planning and management.Ability to effectively communicate and build consensus in a complex environment.Detail-oriented approach with excellent prioritization and project management skills.Excellent leadership and self-direction.Proficient in Microsoft Office.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals.Results-oriented and exhibits strong attention to detail.Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work with all levels of staff (executive, front-line, and physicians) and function effectively in a fast-paced environment.Demonstrated ability to establish positive working relationships across the organization and to communicate effectively with others, listen actively to accurately assess needs, and gather information from sources at all levels.Team-oriented and able to collaborate effectively with other departments and community partnersMust work well under pressure of multiple projects having competing deadlines and with minimal supervision.Ability to approach work strategically and to execute assignments at a tactical level.Flexibility required. Occasional evening and weekend work.Ability to build and manage relationships internally and externally.Preferred: Working knowledge of email marketing software, website content management systems, website and social media analytics, image editing software or Adobe creative suite and ability to provide art direction.
