Summary This SPECIAL MISSION AVIATOR position, is located at Air National Guard (ANG) flying unit, Operations section that flies HH-60 and/or CV-22 and is part of the CA 129 RQW. Applications will be reviewed every 30 days and you will receive an email regarding your application status when reviewed. Responsibilities THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, INDEFINITE POSITION. Selectee may be non-competitively converted to permanent status if/when funding becomes available or position becomes unencumbered. The primary purpose of the SPECIAL MISSION AVIATOR, GS-2185-9, is to perform aircrew duties as a Special Mission Aviator for the special mission fixed wing aircraft and/or special mission rotary aircraft and to perform staff support duties. This is a developmental position to that of Special Mission Aviator (Instructor), D2297000, GS-2185-10. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance. Requirements Conditions of Employment CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Military technicians must be assigned to a military position in the same unit which they are employed or, in a unit that is supported by the employing activity. Military technicians must hold the military grade specified for the position. Priority Areas(s) of Consideration: Priority consideration is first given to the areas below. AREA I= Current California National Guard employees who are serving on a Permanent/Indefinite/Temporary appointment. AREA II= Current California National Guard members. AREA III= Current military members of the Air Force/Army National Guard, Air Force/Army Reserve or Air Force/Army Active Duty. (Applicants who are currently in other Air/Army branches and NOT currently a member of the California National Guard (CNG) must become a member of a compatible unit of assignment within the Air Force CNG commensurate with the military grade listed in this announcement prior to federal assignment). Military Grades: E-2 through E-7 Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance. Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards. Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Must attain and maintain mission-ready status at the appropriate crew qualification level in the unit's assigned aircraft. Periodically, as prescribed by regulations, must take and pass written and in flight standardization evaluation examinations to include random no notice evaluations. Required to maintain proficiency in the use of firearms. As prescribed by regulation, may be required to carry and use a concealed weapon while performing aircrew related duties. Security Clearance: at a minimum a National Agency Check is required. Qualifications General Experience: Must possess experience, education or training which provides knowledge of aircraft weight and balance computations; aircraft performance data; aircraft records maintenance; and aircraft systems. SPECIAL MISSION AVIATOR, GS-2185-9: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-07 level experience in special operations, combat rescue, personnel recovery, nuclear security and DV transport mission; aircraft systems such as electrical, communication, navigation, mechanical, hydraulic, flight control, pneumatic, fire suppression, environmental, pressurization and interrelationships among all systems; Experience in flight theory and fixed/rotary-wing aerodynamics; in-flight maintenance; Experienced with use of navigational aids. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies: Ability To Inspect Attention to Detail Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Operation and Control Education N/A Additional Information Recruitment/Relocation Recruitment/Relocation Incentive MAY BE authorized, subject to funding and approval. PCS Relocation Costs IS NOT authorized based on determination that Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is not in the Government best interest. The incumbent is exposed to physiological hazards of flight plus physical and psychological demands of routine lengthy missions (up to 24 hours duration), must work in confined, hazardous noise areas, is subject to inclement weather during ground operations and dangerous environmental conditions during flight, and may operate in austere location. MILITARY MEMBERS WITH BONUSES: Upon acceptance of a military technician position military members who are currently receiving a military Reenlistment/Extension Bonus (REB) or GI Bill-SR Kicker may lose incentive eligibility and may be subject to termination or suspension of incentive (includes indefinite and temporary technicians on assignment for more than 180 days in any continuous 12-month period).
