Summary: Manages the public safety regular, per diem, and contracted staff, and transportation driver staff, during their assigned shift; supervises a staff who perform general security work for the protection of persons and property and the enforcement of Roswell Park, Federal, State and local laws, policies and procedures and rules and regulations; manages the prevention of losses due to accidents and incidents; possesses arrest powers while on duty. Duties include, but are not limited to, the qualification and the potential use of firearms. The pay range for this position is $62,490 - $76,140 annually which includes a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications:Required Education and Experience

License and Certification Requirement
1. Valid New York State driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within thirty (30) days of appointment; and
2. Certification or the ability to obtain certification as a New York State Peace Officer within one (1) year of appointment; and3. Current Pistol Permit or the ability to submit an application for a New York State Pistol Permit within sixty (60) days of appointment.
Education and Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Police Science or a related field and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time experience in a law enforcement or security organization, exposed to functions similar to those at Roswell Park; or
2. Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, Police Science or a related field and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time experience in a law enforcement or security organization, exposed to functions similar to those at Roswell Park; or
3. High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma and the equivalent of six (6) years of full-time experience in a law enforcement or security organization, exposed to functions similar to those at Roswell Park.
Additional Candidate Requirements Prior to Appointment in Roswell Park Cancer institute’s Public Safety Department
1. Must be at least 21 years of age; and
2. Must be a United States citizen; and
3. Must pass drug test(s) and the Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA); and
4. Must pass a psychological evaluation.

NOTE:
1. Incumbents must maintain certification as a New York State Peace Officer as a condition of continued employment.
2. Incumbents must be able to obtain and maintain the necessary firearms permit(s) in accordance with organization policies and legal statutes as a condition of continued employment.
3. Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
