Special Procedures Technologist- IR
Overview Operates diagnostic imaging equipment to produce contrast enhanced images, assists with biopsies and drainages, venous access, spine interventions and other procedures with the Physician in diagnosis and treatment of disease by performing the following duties. Works directly with the Special Procedures Coordinator in a variety of aspects of the Interventional Radiology Department. Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities Positions patient for exam, has appropriate supplies ready for procedure, maintains sterile field. Operates fluoroscope to aid Physician to view and guide wire or catheter through blood vessel to area of interest. Fills automatic injector with contrast media, sets flow rate, and activates injection of contrast media into blood vessels of patient, as directed by Physician. Acquires appropriate images with x-ray or ultrasound, then sends quality images to PACS for viewing. Schedules and coordinates procedures to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency. Performs intermediate level patient coding and billing. Monitors inventory control Utilizes appropriate scripting, barriers and patient identifiers. Assists coordinator as requested with projects and completes within the agreed upon time. Education and Experience Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; Two years experience in Diagnostic Radiology; 2 years experience in Interventional Radiology with VI certification. Certification and Licensure ARRT registered. State licensed radiographer, VI certification, CPR certification. COMPUTER SKILLS To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Human Resource systems; Internet software; Order processing systems; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Must be able to take call as needed.
