Special Processes Technician - 2nd Shift
**Job Description Summary** The role involves performing special processes such as high-temperature heat treats, brazing, FIC, and coatings, while operating vacuum and batch atmosphere furnaces. Responsibilities include ensuring proper cleaning and preparation work, performing chemical strip and clean, abrasive blast cleaning, and adhering to process instructions and specifications. The position requires working with chemical cleaning, stripping, masking, etching, rinsing, drying, and degreasing operations, as well as identifying and testing solutions, and assisting in the removal of spent solutions. Additional duties include equipment maintenance, machine cleaning, chemical disposal, positioning materials for heat treatments, verifying temperature control settings, and performing operator-level equipment maintenance. You’ll find state of the art technologies in CNC, EDM, and Coating as well as advanced technology development within our new Tech Lab. **Essential Responsibilities** + Perform special processes such as high-temperature heat treats, brazing, FIC, and coatings. + Operate vacuum and batch atmosphere furnaces, working from technical documents, custom process methods, and strict process instructions. + Ensure proper cleaning and preparation work, including chemical strip and clean, and abrasive blast cleaning on turbine engine parts. + Follow recognized process methods and instructions to perform chemical cleaning, stripping, masking, etching, rinsing, drying, and degreasing operations. + Identify and test solutions, assist in the removal of spent solutions, and operate manual and automated abrasive blast machines and washers/degreasers. + Maintain equipment, clean machines, dispose of chemicals, and perform related functions based on process sheets and work instructions. + Position materials on racks, thermocouples, pack furnace containers, load and unload furnaces, and perform related heat treat, brazing, and coating functions. + Verify temperature control, atmosphere, and vacuum settings on Windows-based and single-loop temperature controllers. + Perform operator-level equipment maintenance as necessary. + Meet all quality assurance standards for the product. + Adhere to all safety procedures, report safety concerns, use appropriate PPE, and follow safety and quality practices. + Work scheduled shifts on weekends as needed. + Undergo further training for upgrades on automated processes or process changes as required. **Qualifications/Requirements** + High school diploma or GED. + Minimum of 18 months experience in operating vacuum, chemical cleaning, and batch furnaces, or in an aviation manufacturing/production environment. + Willingness and ability to work overtime and any shift. + Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English, with the ability to interpret and follow written procedures (e.g., Aviation Work Instructions), complete documentation (e.g., routers), and follow verbal instructions. + Must pass a physical, background check, and drug screen. **Desired Characteristics:** + Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, high-volume production environment. + Proficiency in operating and understanding vacuum and batch atmosphere furnaces. + Self-directed with a proven ability to identify and implement improvement processes. + Strong team player with the ability and willingness to collaborate effectively with others. + Commitment to following and promoting safe work practices. + Effective communication skills. _This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
