Special Products Operator I - Second Shift

Under the direction of the Operations Manager and/or Supervisor, the Special Products Operator I operates a variety of equipment that is used for preparing and processing raw material into a final form for delivery to customers. The final products being Zinc Arsenide, Thorium Fluoride and Magnesium Fluoride.

The 2nd shift schedule is 2:00 PM - 10:30 pm.

You will have the opportunity to:

Measure and weigh raw materials, which are both solids and liquids

Work will require the use of strong acids and bases

Operate equipment such as crushers and blenders to prepare raw materials for processing

Operate material transfer equipment (double diaphragm pumps, screw, vacuum and bucket conveyers) for both liquids and solids.

Operate tumble and paddle blenders and overhead stirrers for mixing

Prepare reaction vessels for the next run by either rinsing, scraping, sanding, lining or sand blasting. Load reaction vessels with prepared chemicals by pouring, scooping or mechanically dispensing. Remove materials from the reaction vessels and clean reaction vessels

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum 1 year industrial experience, preferably in a related industry (Chemical, Food, etc.)

Previous experience operating tools such as induction furnaces, vacuum kettles, ball and hammer mills, roll and jaw crushers, gas cylinders, pH meters is preferred

Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds at shoulder height

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to low concentrations of fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, acid, and bases. The employee occasionally works with reactive material and may be exposed to low-level radioactive materials and extreme heat.  All such exposures are customarily within limits established by federal and state regulatory bodies


 

The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
