The hired associate must reside within 35 miles of the following location(s):

Columbus: One Nationwide Plaza, Columbus OH, 43215 

Work schedule: 3 days in office, 2 days remote.

This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization.  Nationwide does not participate in the Stem OPT Extension program.

Overview: Join Nationwide’s Accelerator team, a dynamic business unit focused on developing innovative investment products that drive growth across the enterprise. This role is focused on private sector retirement plans, which plays a critical role in expanding Nationwide’s retirement solutions by creating and managing investment vehicles tailored to institutional clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development Support: Partner with wholesalers and advisors to win new retirement plan business by analyzing plan structures, fees, and investment options. Deliver compelling proposals that demonstrate cost savings and value through Nationwide-branded solutions.Investment Acumen: Leverage deep understanding of mutual funds, ETFs, and other investment products.Analytical & Research Expertise: Conduct financial and competitive analysis to support product positioning, pricing strategies, and investment performance evaluation.Presentation & Communication: Deliver high-impact presentations to internal leadership, external clients, and prospects, articulating complex investment concepts in a clear and persuasive manner.

Qualifications:

Strong background in investments, financial analysis, or business strategy.Experience in private sector retirement products is a plus.Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.Proven ability to manage relationships with key stakeholders and influence decision-making.Exceptional presentation and communication skills.Proactive, self-starter mindset with a passion for innovation and growth.Series 6 or 7 is highly preferred upon hire and must be obtained within 120 days.

Preferred Experience:

Familiarity with retirement plan structures (401(k), 403(b), etc.) is helpful but not required.Experience working with institutional clients or in a product development role within financial services.

As a Specialist, you'll be responsible for managing platform relationships. You'll assist with developing reports on business line activities and partner with the designated business units to represent NFG and NIA products.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Supports selected business segments within Nationwide Financial, providing investment research and analysis.

Designs and coordinates plan investments per the menus of NIA and NFG. 

Coordinates and communicates portfolio construction and implementation process to plan sponsor decision makers.

Performs current plan analysis, reporting, communication, negotiation and problem solving for the plan sponsor and the Nationwide Financial constituencies. Partners closely with Manager Strategies, Product Management and Asset Strategies teams to determine the best managers and asset mix for each business line "case" presented.

Provides recommendations on investment options that support the investment strategies.

Works to become integrated part of the internal business unit team and product decision-making process.

Assists in new product development that includes investments within variable insurance products as well as stand-alone investments (e.g. retail mutual funds, separate accounts, etc.).

Collaborates with Marketing departments of IMG and internal business units to position IMG products for success.

Supports sales associates with presentations and data communicating benefits of fund options and selection/monitoring process.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to IMG Account Management leader.

Typical Skills and Experiences:


Education: Undergraduate studies in business, finance, economics, accounting or a related field. Graduate studies preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: CFA/CFP certification preferred.

Experience: Five years of related experience in financial services investment management.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with business unit and client. Ability to lead multiple tasks and projects. Ability to translate complex statistical data into information suitable for Management. Must have working knowledge of products, services and processes of the related business unit. Strong understanding of Nationwide Financial businesses, industry and competitors.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.
