Who we’re looking for  

 

Reporting to the Director, Commercial Risk and Assurance, the newly created position of Specialist, Commercial Risk will be responsible for transforming the way in which Newmont’s Commercial function manages risk, in order to protect Newmont’s operational, reputational and financial global Tier 1 positioning. 

 

Key responsibilities will be but not limited to:

 

Identify global risks, integrate mitigation strategies and enhance tools and processes into a robust, overall risk program in alignment with Newmont’s Risk Management Systems, policies and standards across Commercial, including supply chain, sales and marketing and inbound and outbound logistics Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential hazards, vulnerabilities and exposures including geological, environmental, operational and regulatory risks and, develop crisis management and business continuityDevelop risk mitigation plans tailored to specific supply/sales channels, supplier/customer segments and geographic markets, balancing business objectives with risk exposureEnable strong collaboration in cross functional risk initiatives and deliverables to optimize value protection to support Newmont’s performance objectives.

 

The ideal applicant will bring significant experience in global organisation Commercial Risk strategy, solid influencing skills, expert geopolitical disruption advisory capability and a depth of knowledge of  leveraging data analytics and technology solution optimisation. 

 

To be considered suitable, applicants will also have:

 

Undergraduate Degree in Risk Management Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Marketing and/or Business Administration Post-graduate qualification in relevant discipline preferredRelevant large scale mining and/or natural resources global operations experiencePractical hands-on capability in risk assessment, mitigation strategy and crisis management and end-to-end  value chain managementExtensive knowledge of supply chain management, sales and marketing and commercial business processes in a global organisational designProficient skills in  ERP and Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

 

The position will suit applicants currently living in Perth, Melbourne or Brisbane. Residents of another Australian capital city will be considered for the ideal candidate.  This role will be offered on a hybrid/work from home basis utilising the Newmont capital city office hub when required to be effective in your role.  Full eligibility for employment in Australia will be essential.
