As a Specialist Contractor Management, you are primarily responsible for ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and working with EPCOR’s Health Safety & Environment (HSE) department to manage health, safety and environmental compliance of contractors under the Dispatch Services and broader Project & Technical Services programs. Other responsibilities include assisting, mentoring and coaching Contractors, EPCOR workers, site supervisors and managers in performing contracted work on EPCOR worksites, performing hazard assessments, workplace inspections, incident investigations, assessing compliance of field work practices to applicable legislation and internal protocols.
This position reports to the Manager, Dispatch Services and will also be accountable for overseeing performance of contractor activities at various EPCOR worksites as well as providing administrative and management representation support to the Manager, Dispatch Services.
What you’d be responsible for
Providing key inputs towards developing strategic and operational plans and direction for the Dispatch Services team.Developing, implementing and reviewing Dispatch Services processes and procedures to ensure compliance to EPCOR’s Corporate and Business Units’ policies, standards and regulatory requirements by contractors and other stakeholders while ensuring mitigation of risks.Developing reports backed by statistical data to support the Dispatch Service Manager as needed for monthly, quarterly and yearly operations.Overseeing the complete and accurate documentation, timely follow up for various groups as it relates to Dispatch Service program to ensure security or confidentiality isn’t compromised. Ensuring delivery of optimal results against appropriate performance metrics, ensuring Contractors are providing the services requested under various contracts with EPCOR with respect to scope, timing, cost and safely. Evaluating contractor performance to identify improvement areas or gaps and provide feedback. Conducting regular site inspections or observations and working closely with contractors to implement any corrective actions. Representing Dispatch Services management in accident/incident investigations as well as preparing and delivering relevant presentations at relevant Safety Meetings. Providing support to Project and Technical Services in fulfilling Contractor or Prime Contractor obligations including worksite coordination, monitoring all HSE activities of the Contractor on work sites, engaging the EPCOR HSE team as required. Responding to stakeholder inquiries and resolving matters in a timely fashion to mitigate project risks and maintain clear lines of communication with all stakeholders
What’s required to be successful
Grade 12 diploma (GED or equivalent level of secondary education) is required.Completion of post-secondary education in a relevant field OR a Journeyperson ticket in a construction related trade is considered an asset. Experience that includes: 10+ years of relevant and progressive experience working in a field/ contractor safety management related environment.3+ years of demonstrated team leadership accountabilities in a field-based environment strongly preferredExperience conducting incident investigations, audits and creating reports.Must have a valid Alberta Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operator's License is required:with 6 or fewer demerits. ability to qualify for and maintain a valid EPCOR driver's permit. a 5-year Commercial Drivers Abstract may be required at the time of hire.we are not accepting drivers with a GDL licenseDemonstrable knowledge of OH&S legislation and EPCOR policy and standardsProficient in using databases, data analytics platforms, Business Intelligence metrics dashboards and MS Office (Power Point, Excel & Word including Outlook) suites to collect, analyze complex data to drive business outcomesAbility to understand and anticipate specific business drivers; influence, facilitate the development and implementation of health & safety plans, goals and objectives.Experience building strong partnerships with internal and external partners or stakeholders e.g. contractors, unionized employees, and other EPCOR Business Units etc. Has exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills; ability to manage and influence multiple and complex tasks or projects and cross-functional teamsExceptional verbal and written communication skills to express concepts and technical information effectively to diverse audiencesAbility to work effectively with diverse teams as well as contribute towards a positive team environment.Other important facts about this job
