We are hiring one (1) Full Time, Permanent Emergency Management Specialist position working out of our Aurum facility in Edmonton, AB.
The Specialist, Emergency Management will support the Manager, Operational Incident Support through continuous development, implementation and ongoing administration of the emergency management system for Linear Assets Operations (LAO) within EPCOR Water Services (EWS). The position will work collaboratively with customers and stakeholders to support activities related to program planning and delivery through the preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery phases of emergency management. What you’d be responsible forSupport the Linear Assets Operations team in preparation for, during and recovery from incidents and emergencies through development and maintenance of processes, procedures and tools related to the emergency management system.Develop, implement and maintain risk analyses, processes/procedures/guidelines, training, communicating and testing of plans to enable more effective operational incident and emergency preparedness and resiliency.Develop, maintain and test Emergency Response Plans (ERPs) and Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) through drills, table top and live exercises, including the completion of exercise debriefs and after action reports, identifying actions for future improvements.Coordinate and support LAO response to incidents, emergencies and disasters through activation of the emergency operations centre (EOC), assuring safety, protection of assets and the environment, and incident stabilization.Assess, maintain and inspect emergency flood response equipment. Monitor, measure, audit and report on the effectiveness of processes to ensure consistency of delivery of the emergency management system.Maintain The EWS Emergency Management System in accordance with, but not limited to, standards and best practices including:Incident Command System (ICS)CSA Z1600Disaster Recovery International (DRI)ISO 14001OHSAS 18001EPCOR Incident Management Process (IMP)EPCOR Corporate Contingency Planning standards and templatesCoordinate, liaise and communicate with other business units or operational areas and key stakeholders (The City of Edmonton, AEMA, other municipalities and various stakeholders) associated with the emergency management system.Demonstrate a high performance, high discipline and safe, accountable, focused, innovative and achievement-oriented, easy to do business with manner of working. What’s required to be successfulCompletion of post-secondary education with either a diploma or a Bachelor’s degree in emergency management.ABCP, AEM, or CEM certification considered an asset.5+ years of directly related experience in a utility environment with a focus on water distribution and transmission, wastewater collection and stormwater management.5+ years related experience of progressively responsible experience in emergency management, including response to real emergency events. Strong computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Oracle, IVARA, Drains, GeoFIT. Knowledge of GIS systems considered an asset.Experience in business analysis to understand how preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery requirements align with non-emergency processes and work flows.Experience facilitating and leading group sessions.Verbal and written communication that is articulate and concise, tailored to audience, clear and understandable. Apply strong interpersonal and communication skills, and leverage networks to influence and facilitate discussions to make decisions, build relationships and resolve issues.Ability to anticipate, assess and readily adapt to changing priorities and effectively work in a changing environment. This includes an ability to prioritize tasks, properly manage time and possession of strong organizational skills.
