About the Role

We are seeking a Global Category Manager – HME Surface to lead strategic sourcing, supplier management, and procurement optimization for Primary Load & Haul, Ancillary, Drills, Technology, and GET components. This role is instrumental in developing global commercial agreements, implementing category strategies, and ensuring alignment with business planning and technical services.

Your Role Will Consist Of:

Here’s a snapshot of your day-to-day responsibilities:

Develop and implement global category and sourcing strategies to drive cost efficiencies and contract value.Lead supplier relationship management (SRM) initiatives to strengthen partnerships and foster continuous improvement.Act as the primary interface between business planning, technical services, and procurement teams to optimize supplier selection and contract performance.Maintain market awareness, tracking trends, risks, and emerging technologies, particularly in automation and safety.Drive supplier selection and management, ensuring compliance with safety, sustainability, and social performance objectives.Manage the Request-to-Pay Standard and Category Management frameworks, ensuring governance and alignment with stakeholders.Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives, support Total Cost Ownership (TCO) strategies, and track savings validation.Execute continuous improvement initiatives, refining procurement policies and processes to enhance sourcing execution.Support strategic portfolio management and Integrated Business Planning, ensuring alignment with the Global Category Management (GCM) framework.Your Training, Skills, and Experience Checklist

What We’re Looking For

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or Accounting.

Experience:

Extensive experience in strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and procurement best practices.

Strong background in global asset-intensive industries, particularly mining and Life-of-Mine operations.

Experience managing complex global projects and cost forecasting.

Technical Skills:

Advanced proficiency in SAP, SAP Ariba, and enterprise-level procurement software.

Strong analytical capabilities in financial assessment, cost modeling, and spend analytics.

Experience with Power BI, Tableau, and other data visualization tools.

Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels, including C-Level executives.

General understanding of Surface Mining processes and Heavy Mining Equipment (HME) operations.

Soft Skills:

Ability to influence and negotiate effectively across multiple stakeholder groups.

Strong leadership and organizational skills with a proactive, strategic mindset.

Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on data-driven decision-making.

Ability to foster collaboration and drive high-performance culture within procurement teams.

Working Conditions and Location

This position is based at the Denver Corporate Office or one of the Regional Hubs.

Travel may be required to supplier sites, regional offices, and mining operations to facilitate global category management and supplier negotiations.

The role requires collaborating across different time zones, engaging with global teams and stakeholders.

The salary range offered for this role is USD $108,000 - 141,750. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.  The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.  


This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
