Who we’re looking for  

 

Reporting to the Director, Health and Safety Projects, Global, the position of Specialist, Health and Safety Projects, APAC will lead the design and delivery of the Health and Safety program for Newmont’s APAC Projects through the implementation of Enterprise Health and Safety standards and aligned programs to ensure inclusion of Project specific considerations. 

 

A key responsibility for the role will be to support the Regional Head, Projects in delivering world class health and safety outcomes for Newmont’s APAC mega-project portfolio and to effectively lead APAC Projects Health and Safety teams to achieve Health and Safety objectives.  

 

To be considered for the position, the ideal applicant will bring expert skills in the integration of Health and Safety tools across a global, cross-functional organisational design.  This will include  strong technical ability in the application of risk management processes and protocols across large-scale mine construction projects.  This will require demonstrated proficiency in implementing health and safety standards, delivery partner (contractor) management, health and hygiene monitoring, regulatory compliance knowledge and solid project management skills.  

 

The ideal applicant will also have:

 

Undergraduate Degree in Occupational Health and/or Safety or equivalent industry experiencePrevious experience in large scale, global mining operations and Project execution Expert knowledge of best practice Health and Safety systems, standards and processes including regulatory and compliance requirementsAdvanced application skills in Health and Safety tools (i.e. Fatality Risk Management, Critical Learning processes, Risk Assessment, etc)Confidence to provide expert Health and Safety advisory across multi-level stakeholders including Strategic Leadership and multi-disciplinary on-site technical teamsDemonstrated team leadership experience including direct and indirect reports and external delivery partner providersProficient skills in SAP and Ariba and Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

 

The position will suit applicants currently living in Brisbane, Australia. Residents of another Australian capital city will be considered for the ideal candidate.  Full and unrestricted eligibility for employment in Australia will be essential.  

 

The role will be offered on a flexible hybrid/work from home basis.  It is anticipated you will be a seasoned professional accustomed to working from home while utilising the Newmont capital city office hub in Brisbane when required to be effective in your role.
