Specialist, HR Compliance and Immigration
**Overview** **ABM** is hiring a **Specialist, HR Compliance and Immigration** to focus on day-to-day compliance operations, including processing E-Verify and I-9 tasks. This role supports the broader compliance team by maintaining accurate records, addressing operational issues, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure immediate compliance needs are met. **Bilingual (Spanish/English) ability is preferred.** This is a **Hybrid Role** (in-office Tue/Wed/Thu) based in our **Sugar Land, TX** office! **Essential Functions** **E-Verify and I-9 Compliance:** + Review and process tentative and final non-confirmations in the E-Verify system in a timely and accurate manner + Collaborate with internal stakeholders and vendors to troubleshoot verification-related issues and ensure compliance with applicable laws. + Maintain accurate and organized records of I-9 and E-Verify processes to support audit readiness and regulatory compliance. **Compliance Monitoring and Risk Mitigation:** + Monitor compliance with work authorization requirements and identify potential risks. + Stay informed of changes in employment laws and regulations, providing proactive guidance to ensure compliance. + Develop mitigation strategies to address identified risks and enhance compliance practices. **Audit and Quality Assurance:** + Conduct regular audits of I-9 forms, supporting documents, and E-Verify records via third-party vendors. + Respond to client and government agency audits, preparing necessary documentation and addressing findings. + Ensure proper documentation of all processed non-confirmations to support both internal and external audit requirements. **Collaboration and Training:** + Partner with Operations, Corporate Functions, HR, Talent Acquisition, and legal teams to integrate compliance practices and resolve complex issues. + Inform HR, Operations, and Talent Acquisition teams on I-9 and E-Verify processes. + Build strong relationships with stakeholders to drive compliance awareness and adoption of best practices. + Collaborate with vendors for integration or process improvements to drive operational efficiency. **Process Improvement and Innovation:** + Identify process deficiencies and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy. + Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to refine system integrations and address technical challenges. + Contribute to initiatives to standardize compliance processes across the organization. **Vendor and External Stakeholder Management:** + Work directly with third-party vendors on integration, processing issues, and performance evaluations. + Provide feedback to vendors and contribute to contract evaluations and renewals. **Qualifications – Education & Experience** + Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field preferred (or equivalent work experience). + 2+ years of experience in E-Verify compliance, I-9 administration, or a related HR compliance role. + Proficiency in HRIS platforms and E-Verify systems. + Experience in a high-volume compliance environment. + Ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision. + Knowledge of employment verification laws and regulations. + Strong attention to detail. + Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex compliance requirements to diverse audiences. + Spanish language proficiency preferred. **Benefit Information:** ABM offers a comprehensive benefits package.
