Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE

The Learning and Development Specialist fosters a culture of continuous learning by creating and implementing learning content and development projects. This role focuses on individual contributions in designing, delivering, and refining learning materials and training programs. The specialist works closely with internal teams and stakeholders to assess needs, design appropriate learning solutions, and ensure successful implementation. This position requires an understanding of the CPG industry and general knowledge of functional departments.

The specialist will support leaders by providing learning resources and contributing to broader learning initiatives. The role involves sourcing and evaluating third-party vendors, ensuring effective training rollout, and tracking outcomes to improve future initiatives.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and facilitate engaging, effective learning materials that align with organizational goals and best practices, ensuring that training sessions meet the needs of various departments.Support the execution of training programs, ensuring seamless implementation and alignment with established objectives, while monitoring for optimal impact.Assist in the creation of project proposals (RFPs) and help to launch training projects, ensuring successful adoption and integration into the organization.Collaborate with HR, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to design and implement associate development programs, focusing on content creation, mentoring support, and career advancement tools.Conduct surveys and assessments to measure employee engagement, identify training needs, and track progress. Provide data insights to guide leadership decisions on training and development.Maintain and update individual learner records within the LMS, ensuring data accuracy and relevance.Administer the LMS and manage the course catalog to maintain overall standards, consistency, and ease of use. Analyze performance gaps and collaborate with key stakeholders to identify and recommend solutions for training and development needs.Continuously improve training programs by incorporating feedback, adopting new techniques, and leveraging emerging technologies.Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards in all training activities, maintaining high quality and adherence to legal requirements.Assist with additional duties and responsibilities as required or assigned by management.Adhere to the Code of Business Ethics, maintaining a high standard of honesty and integrity in all professional activities.Uphold high safety standards, ensuring that personal and organizational safety remains a top priority.

Internal:      This role interacts with all field & corporate teams, including Production, Distribution, IT, Finance, Sales, Operations, and Administration.

External:     Vendors, and 3rd party partners

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Must Have:

3-5 years of experience in a learning and development role, with a bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.Demonstrated expertise in facilitation and training delivery, with strong instructional design skills.In-depth knowledge of instructional design principles and adult learning theories.Proven ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders in a dynamic environment, with a focus on execution rather than leadership.Experience with training evaluation and a commitment to continuous improvement in learning programs.Intermediate skills in Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis and presentation creation.
 

Nice to Have:

Articulate Storyline certification or similar eLearning tools experience.Relevant certifications (e.g., CPLP, PHR, SHRM-CP, CPTM, Lean Six Sigma).Experience in HR or a related field, with a background in designing or supporting associate development programs.
 

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Must Have:

Conceptual project management skills with the ability to support multiple initiatives simultaneously.Excellent communication and presentation skills, with an emphasis on clear and concise delivery in learning and development contexts.Ability to innovate and think critically, with a focus on problem-solving within the scope of learning programs.Proficiency in supporting and presenting project proposals, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.Working understanding of learning models and coaching models, with a focus on application rather than leadership or facilitation.Ability to analyze data, generate meaningful reports, and evaluate training effectiveness for continuous improvement.Expertise in maintaining learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning platforms.Willingness to travel as required.
 

Nice to Have:

Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design, with a focus on supporting instructional content development.Ability to maintain calendars and schedule appointments for training sessions and other learning-related activities.Familiarity with academic standards governing student probation, suspension, and/or expulsion in a learning and development context.Ability to evaluate student progress and assess learning records, such as transcripts or certifications.Proficient in Workday, Workday Learning, and Percipio/Skillsoft Content management.Knowledge of student recruitment and retention issues as they relate to learning and development programs.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

 This is a cross functional role along with no direct reports.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Travel may be required based on the needs of the business. Typical office environment, generally sedentary position using computers, calculators, phones, and other office equipment. This position works in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment. The ability to manage stress, build professional and collaborative relationships, and reason through complex business situations is essential.
