Job description:
Key ResponsibilitiesThis position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
1. PI System Administration & Maintenance
Ensure the health and optimal performance of OPC servers, Interface Nodes, DA, PI Servers, PI AF, PI Vision, and RT Duet.Manage and maintain the PI System infrastructure, coordinating with IT teams to ensure system reliability, performance, and scalability.Administer PI System configurations, ensuring effective data integration from multiple sources.Regularly review PI Point tuning parameters, perform data validation, and manage stale/unused tags.Implement and maintain backup strategies and conduct regular system health checks.2. PI Vision & Data Visualisation
Configure, deploy, and maintain PI Vision dashboards and visualisation tools to support operational needs.Work closely with end-users to translate data requirements into actionable PI Vision displays.Optimise dashboard performance, data queries, and refresh rates to enhance user experience.Provide ongoing user support, troubleshooting system issues, and implementing updates.3. System Integration & Data Management
Collaborate with data engineers and IT teams to integrate PI System data with other repositories.Support the implementation of IIoT, data virtualisation, and advanced analytics to improve system efficiency.Ensure seamless integration between SCADA systems (Siemens PCS 7, Citect SCADA), OPC DA/UA, and PI System.4. Training & Documentation
Develop user documentation, guides, and training materials to ensure consistent knowledge transfer.Conduct training sessions for end-users, ensuring they can effectively create and modify displays, save views, and set up alerts.Maintain system design drawings and documentation to reflect system updates and configurations.5. Compliance & Continuous Improvement
Ensure adherence to all health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations.Report all incidents immediately to the Coordinator and ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.Stay up to date with the latest PI System updates, enhancements, and industry best practices.Identify opportunities for system optimisation, implementing continuous improvement initiatives.6. Other Responsibilities
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for process control and instrumentation teams.Perform other duties as directed by the Instrumentation Superintendent.QualificationsDegree or Higher Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.PI System Admin Certification (Highly desirable).Valid LV Driver’s Licence.ExperienceMinimum of 5 years in administering and supporting PI Suite Software or related data visualisation platforms.Strong background in IT, Engineering, and/or Automation, with experience in PI System integration, installation, configuration, and support.Experience with RT Duet is highly preferred.Knowledge of IIoT, Data Management, and Data Virtualisation.Experience with other data visualisation tools like Power BI.Familiarity with SCADA systems (Siemens PCS 7, Citect SCADA).Experience with OPC DA/UA systems is an advantage.Proficiency in SQL and PI System querying languages (e.g., PI AF, PI SQL Client).Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Comfortable working in a remote, multi-cultural environment.Behavioural TraitsBolder: Takes initiative and proactively identifies opportunities for system improvement.Smarter: Prioritises safety, quality, and technical excellence.Driven: Focuses on delivering high-performance outcomes.Together: Works collaboratively across teams and fosters strong stakeholder engagement.Operational RequirementsAvailability for standby and overtime when required.Exposure to industrial environments.Ability to troubleshoot and resolve system issues under pressure.Visit our website and register for instant job alerts at careers.first-quantum.com
