This role will be filled in a hybrid capacity, with in-office collaboration in our Columbus, OH office 1-2 days per week.
 

PLS Product pricing Team has an exciting opportunity for a Specialist, Software Engineer (Test Automation Developer) to work on PLS Product pricing components of Guidewire Policy center application. This is very critical part of pricing functionality that helps to decide the rates for PLS products (Line of business: Property, Auto, Power sports). In this role, you will design, develop test automation suite on hand to maintain the quality standards and will have an opportunity to collaborate with several key stakeholders and potentially lead several TADs on the line.

 

To be successful in this team, you will need extensive experience using test automation programming languages and the software development life cycle in fast paced delivery environment. The candidate will join a high performing team that is passionate and motivated about the customer experience and provide incremental business value.

 

Ideal candidates will have

Proficiency in Ruby programming and experience with Tosca for test automation

Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC)

Familiarity with Guidewire PolicyCenter

Basic knowledge of SQL

Compensation Grade F5

As a Software Engineer, you will focus primarily on providing high quality, efficient technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications. In this capacity, you’ll analyze, code, configure, test, debug, document and maintain applications.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards in an agile environment.

Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.

Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.

Drives continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice and innovation.

Manages medium to large project priorities, deadlines and deliverables proactively.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Technology Manager/Director. 

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Completion of undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree. 

Experience: Four or more years of analysis and technology experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proficiency in one or more programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript. Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven ability to tackle complex business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence. 

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resources Business Partner.
