Purpose

 

Lead Land’s support for global M&A and other land transactions to accomplish Newmont’s exploration, development, and other strategic objectives

In this role, the individual will: Serve as a subject matter expert, providing strategic advice on surface and mineral land rights to support Newmont's exploration, development, and other key business objectives.Lead and execute critical land projects, driving global land access strategy initiatives to align with company goals.Advise the Investments & Value Management team on key land considerations to be incorporated into investment strategies.Negotiate and secure land rights in collaboration with cross-functional teams for M&A, asset-level transactions, and various agreements, including earn-in, joint venture, lease, option, impact benefit, and exchange agreements. This includes preparing necessary applications, dossiers, and petitions.Conduct and oversee land title and spatial due diligence, ensuring thorough assessment of transaction risks. This involves researching governmental land records, verifying ownership, boundary descriptions, encumbrances, and compliance with legal obligations, zoning laws, regulations, environmental restrictions, and local customs.Design and deliver training programs for Business Unit (BU) Land teams, focusing on negotiation strategies, tactics, and land due diligence best practices.Perform global LOD2 (Line of Defense 2) compliance activities, as led by the Specialist, Global Land Risk & Compliance.Provide technical support and subject matter expertise to BU Land teams on complex land transactions, ensuring informed decision-making and risk management.Training & Experience

 

Bachelor’s degree in Land Management, Environmental Management, Business, or a related field.Minimum of 3+ years in land transactions, due diligence, negotiations, or related fields.Experience conducting land due diligence, drafting land-related agreements (leases, joint ventures, etc.), and negotiating transactions with diverse stakeholders.Familiarity with enterprise land management databases.Proven ability to negotiate land-related agreements across various geographical and cultural backgrounds.Strong collaboration and communication skills; ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

CPL (Certified Professional Landman) or RPL (Registered Professional Landman).Proficiency in Spanish.Experience with land tenure laws and transactions across multiple jurisdictions.Working Conditions

 

This position is open to qualified candidates located near our corporate headquarters, regional offices (Denver, Vancouver, Miami, Melbourne), or any of our site locations.Collaboration and interaction are expected with teams across the global, regional, and site organization as well as across other service and operational areas of Newmont across multiple time zones.Regular travel to domestic and international sites may be required.

The salary range offered for this role is USD $108,000 - 141,750. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.  The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.  


This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
