Job Description:
The Specialist, Systems Engineer (SE) performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and troubleshooting for total systems and or subsystems. The Specialist SE is part of a team that supports the requirements, design, development, test, and integration of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on ground and airborne communication platforms.
Essential Functions:
Understand physical architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domainsReview and evaluate electrical wiring diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirementsUnderstand test, integration, verification, and validation planningWrite effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirementsTranslate the voice of the customer into system level requirementsPerform requirement traceabilityDevelop and evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completenessWrite subsystem specifications based on system level requirementsEvaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system designsPrepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionalsPerform other duties as assignedJob Qualification Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret (SCI) security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.Hands-on experience with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware in a multi-domain mobile airborne data-link, video, and voice systems environmentExperience with Aircraft communication system integration and communications ground/flight test supportExperience with configuration and integration of aircraft RF and satellite communications systems, or cryptographic equipmentPreferred Additional Skills:
Working knowledge of LAN and VOIP protocols to include IP routingKnowledge of mission systems: EO/IR, Video, Networks, SI/EW, etc.Model-based Systems Engineering and Simulation experienceTroubleshooting and multi-level testing for RF applicationsKnowledge of requirement traceability methods and purposeKnowledge of the systems engineering trade study processExperience conducting verification testingExperience working with subcontractors and U.S. Government customersExperience developing, authoring, and implementing system test plansEngineering efforts involving FAA-certified general category aircraftExcellent written, oral, and presentation communications skillsPlease be aware many of our positions require the ability to obtain a security clearance.
