Specialist, Training & Documentation
**Responsibilities:** 1. Oversees overall process of training in the laboratory, to include new hire orientation focused on orientation to the lab, its processes and equipment. Provides oversight of technical training on software and equipment; provides current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) training developed in conjunction with the Quality Assurance department; and provides EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) training (general safety, blood-borne pathogens, emergency response, etc.). 2. Ensures delivery of operational training by certified trainers or other appropriate individuals/outside vendors. Training may include new/revised SOPs, cGMP, EHS, remedial training (such as reading, bench work, retraining on equipment, etc.) and other training as necessary. 3. Monitors training effectiveness for employees during orientation and for development, using supervisors’ evaluations and input. 4. Maintains training records for exempt and non-exempt Laboratory personnel and support staff; periodically reviews training files for completeness. Primary responsibility for supporting and maintaining the Learning Management System ensuring data integrity, report generation and analysis of data to ensure compliance to company and regulatory standards. 5. Ensures that annual training requirements for cGMP and EHS are met, and administers or delegates annual recertification activities (including a written and practical portion to demonstrate proficiency) as appropriate. 6. Identifies training needs within the laboratory, by evaluating effectiveness of current processes. Publishes training, certification and re-certification schedules. Identifies, develops and certifies specific area trainers within the Laboratory (selection is based on demonstration of needed skill sets, and management/supervisor approval). Conducts train-the-trainer courses for new trainers and when a process or procedure changes. 7. Designs and plans training structure to ensure associate’s learning needs are met. Creates, prepares and maintains training materials. 8. Writes, revises and edits SOPs and forms in conjunction with corporate Documentation department; writes, revises and edits job aids to reflect process and procedural changes. Ensures the most current version of SOPs and training materials are being used. 9. As requested, provides support for Laboratory management and technical assistance to staff; participates in internal and external audits and prepares written responses, as requested. May be asked to provide input into staff performance appraisals 10. Tracks and coordinates medical license certification renewals. Coordinates employee participation in training or other initiatives provided by external resources or vendors. 11. Interacts and utilizes the Corporate Learning and Development (L&D) team as a resource for training materials, processes or guidance. Tracks and trends Training KPIs. Participates in L&D and external Training Coordinator program/materials to maintain and enhance skills. 12. Other job-related duties as assigned. **Education** + Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or applicable field or equivalent combination of relevant work experience and education required **Experience** + Three (3) years of previous experience in a Laboratory environment or the plasma industry preferred + Six months previous experience in a training capacity and six months previous experience writing, revising documents preferred + Knowledge of Laboratory equipment, procedures and safety preferred + Competence with Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint is required + Proficient at providing assistance and directing managers to identify and resolve problems required. + Strong multi-tasking skills.
