Specialist Application Engineer

ABOUT THIS POSITION

We’re looking for a talented Specialist Application Engineer to join our Technology team. In this role, you’ll collaborate with both Technology and Business teams to design, build, and implement innovative web and process applications. You’ll also partner with Client Success to resolve production issues and ensure smooth operations. If you love solving complex problems, mentoring others, and building scalable solutions, this is the role for you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Propose technical solutions and improvements to the Manager of Application EngineeringDesign, develop, test, and implement new features and enhancements for Waystar’s website and core processing applicationsBuild and maintain applications based on functional and technical specificationsAdhere to Waystar coding standards and approved technologies; recommend updates when neededPerform unit testing and collaborate with business and technology owners to validate solutionsCommunicate development progress daily to senior team membersManage work items through internal case systems and ensure timely deliveryTake ownership of assigned tasks, provide accurate estimates, and resolve blockersAssist in QA processes and participate in production code deployments, including smoke testingMaintain clear documentation and communicate technical issues to leadership and peersIdentify opportunities for refactoring, optimization, and improved technology solutionsMentor team members to help them build correct technical solutionsSolve complex technical problems with minimal oversightAdditional duties as assigned

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

4-7 years of experience with .NET or Java4+ years of experience in industry standard relational database solutions like SQL Server or PostgresStrong unit testing experienceExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentHighly self-motivated and able to work independently or in a teamExperience building highly scalable software solutionsSubject matter expertise in at least one technical trackBachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience

 

Preferred Skills

N-Tier and SaaS development experienceStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilitiesFamiliarity with modern development practices and tools
