About This Role

Reporting to the Director – Reporting, Constraints & Benchmarking, the Specialist – Benchmarking will be responsible for developing in-house operational performance benchmarking capabilities, tools and systems to support productivity and cost improvements across Newmont operations

This position is ideally located in the Americas or Australia. Candidates near a Newmont site or regional office are strongly encouraged to apply. Given the global scope of responsibilities, this role requires flexible working hours. The selected candidate must be able to travel domestically and internationally to our operating sites or regional offices to collaborate with site and business leaders.
 

What You’ll Do

 

Capturing, reporting, and monitoring critical operational performance metrics.Providing insights into variances and identifying potential opportunities for improvement.Conducting internal and external benchmarking of costs and operational performance while analyzing industry trends.Building and maintaining networks of benchmarking expertise, both within and outside the organization.Developing and delivering training programs to enhance understanding and effectiveness of benchmarking practices.Designing metrics to measure the impact and success of benchmarking initiatives.Facilitating knowledge sharing by fostering relationships with internal and external benchmarking experts.Actively participate in the Full Potential Community of Practice and other opportunities to drive collaboration and business improvement.What We’re Looking For

 

Education: Relevant qualifications in Mining Engineering, Finance, and/or Project Management, paired with substantial experience in the mining or related industries. A Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Information Systems, Mining Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.Advanced certifications in benchmarking, business performance improvement, or data analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) would be an advantageRegistration as a practicing professional engineer would be viewed favorablyExperience: Proven experience in benchmarking within the mining, heavy industry, or similar sectors.Demonstrated ability to develop performance metrics and deliver actionable insights from operational data.Experience in delivering training and collaborating with diverse stakeholders in technical environments.Skills: Technical proficiency of data visualization tools like Tableau and Power BI, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).Ability to develop systems and training that captures and reinforces the value of benchmarking.  Interpersonal Skills to influence or negotiate with others to achieve productive outcome. Exceptional collaboration, team management, and communication skills.Ability to indirectly influence diverse audiences of key operational and business leaders using data and insights.Knowledge: Strong understanding of benchmarking practices and methodologies.In-depth knowledge of the mining value chain and operational dynamics.Expertise in designing systems and processes for effective benchmarking.Why Join Newmont?

The salary range offered for this role is USD $110,100 - $130,000. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.  The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.  


This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
