This position coordinates STP’s development of messaging related to station specific issues and activities, company goals and strategies, and industry issues. Plans and develops collateral materials to support Employee Communications, Media Relations, Project Specific Assignments, Community Outreach, and Owner Communications. Develops communication elements that ensure messages are consistent with the overall brand meet company standards to maintain and promote the positive image on behalf of the Company. **Spec Communications I - 9688** **EDUCATION** • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications or Business Management. (Preferred) • Without a degree, 5 years’ experience in Public Relations, Media Relations, Corporate Communications, or other closely related area may be considered. **EXPERIENCE** • 8 years’ experience in corporate communications or media relations field (Required) **LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS** • Texas Driver’s license (Required) **ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES** • Writing composition and presentation skills. • Requires wide range of skill sets including writing, editing, layout, and design capabilities. • Ability to develop messaging related to station specific issues/activities; company goals and/or strategies; and industry issues. • Interface with media and attends various public affairs functions. • Strong interpersonal and communications skills (verbal, presentation, and written). • Ability to communicate across technical/managerial boundaries to establish and achieve common goals. • Ability to give oral presentations to technical/non-technical groups. • Ability to work across all disciplines and functions to properly inform and educate customers and the public. • Plans and develops collateral materials regarding the South Texas Project to educate key target audiences. Ensures inclusion of company and/or industry issue specific articles and feature stories each month. • Coordinates project specific activities (i.e. Human Performance, Lean Process, Outage Newsletter, and Leadership Conference) and develops and implements communication plans/strategies that clearly relay project goals and information to target audiences. • Provides communications support on emergent issues and assists in coordinating Outage Communication activities. Includes site wide updates to employees, news release development for the media, and talking points for distribution to targeted audiences. • Coordinates the development, writing, editing, approval and daily distribution of site wide employee notice of STP Today within established timelines. Maintains and updates electronic messaging network daily (Visions) throughout the site. **SPECIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS** • Produces work product quickly and accurately to high quality standards. • Exceptional verbal/written communications skills. • Ability to handle constant and multiple deadlines, participate on cross functional project teams and respond positively to plant environment. • Quickly establishes solid rapport and trust in a complex environment and maintains strong relationships throughout the company and the surrounding community. • Assist with providing detail-oriented support as needed to the Corporate Communications team and the development of various products as directed by the Communications Manager. • Translates technical material into readable copy. Must write quickly and accurately to news standards. • Works well within and beyond department including with the public. • Must be able to react to changes in business environment and to adjust priorities to respond to changing informational needs of management and news media. Must be able to perform emergency and crisis communications activities. **OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES** • Accept ERO position as needed. • Accept outage position as needed. • Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access. • Successfully complete General Employee Training (GET) as required for position. **ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS** • Environmental and physical requirements are subject to crouching, stooping, bending, twisting and/or lifting up to 30 lbs; ascending/descending stairs; sitting for extended periods of time; and spending considerable time in front of computer monitors. **WORKING CONDITIONS** • Overtime and alternate work schedules as needed. • Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day seven days per week. • Normal office environment with some trips to the plant. • Travel may be required. • Fast paced, high pressure work environment. **WORK LOCATION** • Hybrid/Remote – Due to the nature of the work, this position provides the ability for a hybrid work schedule between site and an alternate work location. Alternate work locations require adequate technology and that a solid ergonomic setup is present.
