In support of the growing Indigenous workforce at Jansen, the Specialist Indigenous Liaison Officer will ensure Indigenous employees are engaged and informed in a culturally appropriate way. Additionally, this role will support leaders to engage meaningfully and appropriately with Indigenous employees and increase their cultural capability.

Work Location
This role will be based at the Jansen Mine Site located in Leroy, SK. The associated work schedule is 8/80 rooster (4x10 hours days per week). As this role is not eligible for accommodation in the site camp, the incumbent must live within a reasonable commuting distance (< 90km) of the Jansen site.
BHP offers domestic relocation assistance to support the successful incumbent in transitioning, if required. Benefits offered as part of the relocation program include (but are not limited to) new home purchase assistance, temporary accommodations, home finding trip and a relocation allowance.
About You
To be considered, you will need:
Application Deadline Experience in triaging workforce concerns and facilitating engagement with culturally diverse stakeholders. Ability to build, leverage and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally from BHP. Professional skill, cultural competency, and experience working with Indigenous groups (either in mining or across other industries – e.g. health). Previous experience in a similar role in case management, advocacy, community development or human services. Experience managing and reporting employee data.

To be successful in this role, you will: Provide tailored advice and career development support for Indigenous employees as the primary contact at sites, escalating as needed. Facilitate networks and connections between Indigenous employees to foster a culturally respectful workplace. Improve the working environment for Indigenous and non-Indigenous employees by promoting cross-cultural understanding. Coach Line Leaders on Indigenous matters to enhance cultural capability. Execute appropriate Indigenous employee support mechanisms at a site-level. Provide advice and guidance on Indigenous social, cultural and recognition matters to support site-level activities. Partner with Indigenous Engagement team to facilitate any necessary engagement with Opportunity Agreement (OA) partners and local communities where Indigenous employee and/or site needs intersect with local communities. Support recruitment pathway of Indigenous contractors to BHP employees. Establish and maintain wrap around support services including Elder/Knowledge Keeper visits to Potash Academy at Carlton Trail College. Additional duties as required including attendance at external events to promote recruitment. Work Location
