Job Description:

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required

Work Experiences:

5+ years previous payroll work experienceWorkday payroll experience highly desiredFPC/CPP preferredKnowledge of basic accounting and math principlesKnowledge of payroll principlesKnowledge of laws governing payment of wages

Skills:

Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to interface effectively with individuals at various levelsAbility to work well independently, as well as effectively contribute to a team environmentAnalytical with strong problem solving abilities and creative resolution skillsAbility to work well under pressure while consistently meeting time sensitive deadlinesAbility to remain organized, pay attention to detail, and meet critical deadlinesSelf-motivated, with the ability to work on multiple projects in a fast paced environmentStrong Microsoft Office program experience, including Excel and Word

Responsibilities:

Responsible for processing payroll for specific groups as assignedAct as team lead and be available to offer guidance/direction to less experienced team membersMay be asked to assist with entering/reviewing/balancing payroll transactions of less experienced team membersResponsible for reviewing/balancing 401k, direct deposit, and accounting filesWork with auditors and other outside agencies to provide payroll support or resolve payroll issuesHandle payroll escheatment processAssist with/research GL interface and other accounting inquiriesValidate and reconcile incoming payment files (EIB’s)Maintain time and attendance and other payroll support records and archive/file as neededInput payroll data, including deductions and changes to earnings, for payroll processingUnderstand what deductions reduce taxable wages, or earnings that are not taxableResearch payroll issues found on exception reports and take/document corrective actionsRespond to questions from team members regarding issues affecting their paySupport time off inquiries and assist team members with incoming questions regarding leave balancesMaintain hard-copy and electronic payroll filesCreate/distribute reports as neededVerify deductions from team members’ pay for 401k loan repaymentsBasic understanding of garnishments/disposable income and viewing garnishments withheldPrepare direct deposit and check files for final review/approval of payroll managementCalculate and review in detail bi-weekly and off-cycle payroll runs looking for exceptions/errorsReview retro pay results and determine if validEnsure payroll balancing occurs when payroll is processing/closed and outgoing payroll files tie back to payroll registers prior to releasingDevelop a thorough understanding of Academy’s policies, procedures and safety rulesFlexibility with other tasks assigned while also meeting deadlines of critical payroll tasks
