About Cadia
Our Cadia Valley Operation in New South Wales is situated about 25 kilometers from Orange and 250 kilometers west of Sydney. Cadia produces gold doré bars from a gravity circuit and gold-rich copper concentrates from a flotation circuit. The operation includes the Cadia East Mine which is globally renowned for its use of block caving, a large-scale underground mining method.

Newly created opportunity for a Social Performance professional to focus on key social performance projects at Newmont Cadia.
We are looking for an experienced Social Performance practitioner to lead and develop Cadia’s community engagement efforts and consultation processes support key projects critical to the future of the operation. Working cross-functionally you will have a meaningful impact on shaping Newmont’s relationship with the community and stakeholders by delivering strategic plans regarding regulatory approvals and community consultation.
Ideally, you will have extensive demonstrated experience in community engagement related to environmental and community risks within the mining, resources, or energy sectors and bring energy and innovation to the Social Performance team.
Other key responsibilities include: Identify and assess risks and develop management plans to address potential social performance risks related to projects and studies at CadiaDevelop work plans, budgets, procedures, presentations and performance reports related to social performance at Cadia & drive understanding and compliance to Newmont social performance standardsProvide Social Performance leadership and advice related to Stakeholder Management, Human Rights and Indigenous People to relevant Studies and Projects.Provide deep insights to resolve complex Social Performance challenges, ensuring alignment with Newmont policies and standards.Provide the Cadia team with SME advice to identify, mitigate and measure Social Performance related risks that may impact business goals, ensuring transparent and robust processes.Work collaboratively to develop, measure and deliver an integrated site Social Performance plan, Develop stakeholder engagement and monitoring programs that allow data collection to assess perception, reputation and impact of community engagement programs.
Our ideal candidate will possess strong oral and written communication, reporting, and presentation skills, along with the ability to listen, adapt and respond effectively to feedback from stakeholders
You will also possess the following: Experience in Mining, Resources or Energy in a similar roleTertiary education in environmental science, community engagement, social performance, community psychology or a related field.Knowledge of NSW permitting regulatory and approval processes.Advanced proficiency in social performance implementation against social performance standards; stakeholder management; local/Indigenous content programs; social investment; cultural heritage management; land access; ASM. Effective leadership skills, including an ability to engage and collaborate, think laterally and manage difficult issues.Proficiency in program management, particularly handling multiple tasks under tight deadlines
