This position serves customers by selling specialty gases and equipment to specialty gas accounts within the designated territory. Working with the regional company gas product manager, Airgas management, and retail account managers, the specialty gas specialist will also be responsible for the implementation and attainment of strategic market plans within their territory. Function as primary Airgas contact for spec gas customers. Troubleshoot and solve customer problems.

Essential Duties:

Responsible for the initiation, coordination, and fulfillment of the complete, spec gas sales cycle including sales calls, needs analysis, preparing proposals, order entry, product sourcing, product delivery and if applicable, complaint resolution.Identifies, monitors and documents competitive market activity by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, etc.Represents Airgas at trade shows to promote products.Implements spec gas "Target Account Planning and Tracking System" and provides updates on a monthly basis to sales and product management.Meets or exceed sales goals specified in their individual plan.Examines current Airgas accounts and looks for opportunities to add spec gas business to the account.Acts as a sourcing and technical resource for internal retail sales associates.Works with the spec gas product manager to coordinate the procurement and trucking of product to branch/customers.Works with regional product manager and ASG to identify and implement new products or services.Attends and participate in specialty gas and equipment training sessions and seminars.Performs other duties as assigned.

College degree and course work in chemistry or engineering preferredMinimum 2 year experience selling specialty gases and equipment preferredGeneral knowledge of analytical and process control markets and applications.Proven experience calling on laboratory and technical personnel, past record of achieving or exceeding assigned sales goals.Working knowledge of specialty gas pure gas and mixture production methods.Good presentation and proven negotiating skills.Proven analytical and trouble shooting skillsTeam player with a positive attitudeAble to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulationsAbility to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manualsAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concret variables in situations where only limited standaization exists.Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule formComputer literacy is requiredAble to drive to customer locations.
