Salary: 19.07-28.61 USD Facility: Kenmore Mercy Hospital Shift: Shift 1 Status: Per Diem FTE: 0.100000 Bargaining Unit: ACE Associates Exempt from Overtime: Exempt: No Work Schedule: Days and Evenings with Call Weekend and Holiday Rotation Hours: 10-6, Candidate needs to be flexible and available to fill staffing gaps Summary: Under the direction of the Vice President of Mission Services, the Specialized Counselor-Coach ministers to patients, families, and associates in regard to religious/spiritual beliefs and personal concerns; As an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, the Specialized Counselor - Coach provides spiritual and emotional support for patients, families and staff within the context of illness, suffering, loss, and death; Primary areas of responsibility include units such as Intensive Care, Emergency, Oncology, anti-partum at risk and neo-natal intensive care: The Specialized Counselor-Coach receives referrals, complete documentation including Spiritual Assessments as well as provide on-going ministry and support Responsibilities: EDUCATION + Bachelor's Degree in Pastoral Ministry or related field required (to include Counseling and Mental Health fields) + Master's Degree preferred + One (1) unit of Clinical Pastoral Education, preferred + Ecclesiastical Endorsements - + Must be in good standing to serve as a Specialized Counselor/Coach according to the code of ethics for spiritual care professionals and the standards of practice for professional chaplains. Should the Specialized Counselor/Coach characterize or hold themselves out to be a member of any religious clergy, he or she must be held as a member in good standing of same religious clergy or order at all times while employed at Catholic Health. EXPERIENCE + Active, practicing Catholic preferred with pastoral and/or counseling experience marked by demonstrated grasp of both the complexity of health care as a business and the unique moral, ethical and social expectations placed on the health care provider who claims a Catholic identity + Well-formed in Catholic tradition, knowledge of Catholic theology and Catholic social teaching preferred + At least two (2) years of experience in one or more of the following are recommended: health care, education, counseling, mission or spiritual care KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY + High level of interpersonal, facilitative and communication skills + Strong theological reflection skills + Strong conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills + Commitment to Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services + Exhibits strong pastoral identity + Strong emotional and spiritual maturity + Ability to maintain professional and personal confidentiality and HIPAA regulations + Flexibility in work hours, programs and services + Ability to work well as part of an interdisciplinary team + Strong verbal and written communication skills + Ability to utilize computer for documentation, communication and preparation of material for ministry + Presentation and teaching skills + Ability to lead and coordinate prayer/Communion services + Ability to provide group facilitation and critical incident stress management + Knowledge of Advance Directives policy and ability to facilitate discussion with patient/resident/family WORKING CONDITIONS: ENVIRONMENT + Normal heat, light space, and safe working environment; typical of most office jobs + Clinical area of workplace REQNUMBER: 34100
