Specialty Scheduler – CAV - SFMC - Midlothian, VA
PRIMARY FUNCTION/GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION
The specialty scheduler oversees and manages all OPIC scheduling for patients requiring treatment in the outpatient infusion center and is also responsible for scheduling office visits in conjunction with OPIC appointments. This position is also responsible for communicating with the OPIC manager, charge nurse and staff regarding OPIC appointments as well as the physician, nurse practitioner and clinical teams regarding treatment plans and schedules.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Direct oversight and responsibility for accuracy for scheduling and accurately perform record specific information concerning each case; notify appropriate staff members of special needs for any case.Enter appropriate data from record into the computer system, do audit checks and run period reports.Answers phone and communicates with Physicians and all departments to build daily schedules.Is accountable for processing charges, routing charging information to data processing, and reordering and logging implants.Works with minimal supervision.Contacts and confirms outside parties necessary for surgeries requested.Participates as a team member by performing additional assignments not directly related to the job description when workload requires and as requested by systems coordinator.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
HS DiplomaOne year computer experience required.Experience in healthcare required.Good working knowledge of medical terminology.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate from a Junior College. High School graduate, two years of college considered.Must be able to type 50 words per minute with accuracy.Experience in surgery scheduling preferred.OTHER FUNCTIONS:
