About this role

A mid-size design studio with a portfolio of local and international projects are currently expanding their team and looking to add an architect/technician with expert Specification Writing skills and QMS experience.

This supportive studio has a focus on sustainable architecture and community based projects, and are currently working across a diverse mix of Civic, Education, and Public works.

As an Architectural Specification Writer, you will play a pivotal role in developing and managing detailed architectural specifications that ensure all projects meet the highest standards of quality and compliance. Your expertise in QMS will be instrumental in maintaining and enhancing their quality and specification processes.

 

Key Responsibilities

Develop and write comprehensive architectural specifications for a variety of projects, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance with relevant codes and standards. Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and contractors to gather and integrate project requirements and technical details. Review and interpret design documents, including drawings and schedules, to produce precise and effective specifications. Implement and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS) to ensure that all specifications adhere to company standards and regulatory requirements. Conduct regular audits and reviews of specification processes to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed. Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and changes in building codes and standards to ensure specifications are up-to-date and relevant. Provide technical support and guidance to project teams and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. Drive and champion the documentation standards for the office Working closely to support the majority of works in the studio Some coordination work with external consultants and contractors Production of working drawings, modelling, detailing and implementation of drawing packages Mentoring/upskills junior staff across technical requirements of project delivery output

Skills and Experience

Proven experience in architectural specification writing, with a strong portfolio of completed projects. Solid understanding and hands-on experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) in a construction or architectural context. Strong understanding of architectural documentation and delivery Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team Working knowledge of the BCA, NCC and local authority regulations Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
