Compensation Range: $21.00 - $22.50 per hour (e.g., the job posting is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, and actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as locations, education, experience, and skillset). 

 

 

Hours Worked: Typically, Monday through Friday, forty-hours per week. However, must be flexible to meet the needs of the department and complete other projects as assigned.

 

Position Summary:

 

The Specimen Management Coordinator II is responsible for receiving, performing quality control of shipments, shipping samples, and preparing associated manifests. This role also involves maintaining inventory in XLIMS and tracking samples based on clinical protocol requirements.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Oversee healthy control (HC) inventory in XLIMS. Register the inventory of PBMCs, (peripheral blood mononuclear cells) healthy controls, and clinical samples in the XLIMS system. Track complete chain of custody of the samples. Track storage duration as defined in clinical protocols. Search for stored samples based on criteria provided by Lilly scientists, pull samples, and ship them to designated CROs or Lilly scientists. Create and update sample manifests according to Lilly's data standards. Maintain tracking of projects and research proposal requests for stored samples. Maintain Immunology SharePoint site Receive samples shipped to Immunology, compare them to electronic manifests, and register them in XLIMS. Select clinical samples from the CRO inventory excel spreadsheet. Support routine biochemical assays, IHC, and cell culture. Receive Research Blood Donation program samples, process, aliquot, label, and enter them in XLIMS. Implement and maintain LN2 (liquid nitrogen) inventory. Train XLIMS users. Perform instrument and lab maintenance.

 

 

Skills & Proficiencies:

 

Proficient in data entry and excel, uploading manifests, converting manifests to electronic files using databases, and using MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook. Maintain multiple methods of communication with internal and external partners. Provide exceptional customer service and support with clear communication skills and the ability to follow SOP instructions accurately. Experience in specimen management and working in GLP, non-GLP, and Discovery environments. Skill in handling and protecting chain of custody and documented practices.

 

Education and Experience:

 

Degree requirement: Associate's Degree in related field. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Minimum of one (1) year of experience with specimen management. Minimum of one (1) year of experience in highly detail-oriented environment.

 

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.
