Speech Language Pathologist Position Purpose: This is a professional position responsible to assess, diagnose, treat and help prevent speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, swallowing, fluency and other related disorders. Compensation/Pay Range: $42,750 (negotiable based on experience) Benefits: Qualifies for District contribution to Health/Vision and/or Dental Insurance Yes No Qualifies for Paid Personal Time Yes No Qualifies for Paid Sick Time Yes No Qualifies for Paid Vacation Time Yes No Schedule: Full-time Part-time 10-month (works student calendar) 12-month Paid hours/day:7 hour 40 minute day including a duty free lunch of 35 minutes Essential Functions: + Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) must be able to work across all settings, Pre-Kindergarten to High School serving students with a range of disabilities including those involving language, articulation (speech sound disorders), fluency, voice/resonance, and swallowing. + SLPs are utilized throughout the District to provide intervention services to support students and reduce academic barriers. SLPs should have a knowledge of a wide range of evaluation tools to assess students’ abilities as they relate to communication. + SLPs need to possess the ability to gather and interpret data to inform instructional practices. + SLPs must be willing to complete activities such as Individualized Education Program (IEP) development, Medicaid billing, report writing, and treatment plan/therapy log development. + SLP’s must be willing to engage with students and families from culturally diverse backgrounds. Additional Duties: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Building Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent. Possess knowledge regarding the use of augmentative and alternative communication devices. Travel Requirements: Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: + Knowledge of the modern principles and practices of Speech Language Pathology; + Ability to demonstrate sensitivity, maturity and dependability; + Ability to work with a culturally diverse population of students and families; + Ability to create a safe and culturally inviting environment. Qualifications Profile: Certification/License: + NY State Certification in Speech and Language Disabilities and NYS License as a Speech Language Pathologist. + Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation. Education: + Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment. + Masters Degree in related area preferred. Experience: Successful prior Speech Language Pathologist experience a plus. Experience working with a diverse population is desired.
