SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST
The starting rate for this position is: $34.60 Rate of pay displayed reflects the beginning of the pay scale. Job Summary The Speech Language Pathologist will carry out an individualized program of speech language pathology including assessment, treatment, implementation, education, discharge planning and communication to maximize a patient's progress toward achieving functional goals. The Speech Language Pathologist will also maintain a positive working relationship with other health professionals and ancillary staff. Essential Duties and Responsibilities + Supports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry. + Provides direct patient care, evaluates functional needs and outcomes, and consults with other specialists. Reviews patients’ functional needs and adjusts care plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes. + Designs and implements a plan of care for patients based on a thorough assessment of potential development and incorporates participation by significant others whenever it seems appropriate. + Conducts therapy practice within defined standards of care. + Directs the assistance of support staff to achieve patients’ functional goals. + Communicates effectively with other professional and support staff to achieve positive patient outcomes. + Maintains compliance with all relevant Federal, State regulations and Organizational policies. + Follows hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. + Documents evaluations, treatment goals, and plans. Regularly updates documentation and maintains prescriptions and signatures. + Enhances professional growth and development of self and others through participation in educational programs, in-service meetings, and workshops. Keeps up to date on professional literature. + Provides direction and leadership to staff and acts as a resource to promote speech language pathology in the community. + Other duties as consistent with this role. Outpatient – additional duties/responsibilities: + Schedules patients and monitors referral work queues in Employee Health Record + Monitors and analyzes essential departmental data elements through creation and running of reports in Employee Health Record Job Requirements: (education and experience/preferred and required) Job Knowledge and Skills + Clinical skills to care for the physical and developmental needs of the population age groups that will be receiving services. + Ability to remain calm in emergency or crisis situation. + Ability to use a computer and proficiency in Employee Health Record documentation. Education and Experience + Current license from the NH Speech Language Pathology and Hearing Care Providers Governing Board required + CPR/BLS certification required + Graduate of an American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) accredited speech language pathology (SLP) program strongly preferred + Passage of national Praxis exam or valid Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) issued by ASHA strongly preferred An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements. Working Conditions/Physical Demands Must p ossess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with this position that involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. Lifting/carrying frequently up to 35 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Some stress related to high level of responsibility for quality care.
