Click here: MercyOne Newton Newton, Iowa (IA) Area Hospitals, MercyOne Newton (https://www.mercyone.org/newton/) **Position Overview:** Provides clinical Speech Pathology services to adults and pediatric caseloads at acute, skilled, outpatient, home health, and contract levels of care. **Essential Job Functions:** + Conducts diagnostic assessments for communication disorders, including speech, language, fluency, voice, cognition/memory, and swallowing. + Develops treatment plans and intervention strategies based on evaluation results. + Provides therapy services for remediation of communication disorders and/or dysphagia. + Educates patients and families on communication disorders and/or dysphagia. + Recommends and ensures appropriate discharge planning regarding communication disorders and/or dysphagia. + Performs operational duties such as patient scheduling, completion of patient notes and reports, maintaining patient files, completing patient charges, and recording hours worked and mileage. + Conducts continuing education and in-service activities for departmental staff, hospital personnel, contract agencies, and community groups as requested. + Demonstrates positive, professional interactions with patients, visitors, families, staff members, and medical staff. + Assumes responsibility for maintaining and developing professional skills relevant to the job. + Adheres to Skiff Medical Center and departmental policies and procedures. + Performs additional duties as assigned. + Coordinates with the public, receives patients and guests, ascertains their needs, and appropriately directs them; assists patients, families, referring physicians, and third-party carriers. + Schedules patients for evaluations, consultations, and treatments. + Familiar with various types of medical insurance and obtains pre-certification when necessary. + Utilizes computer systems for e-mail, calendars, and patient documentation. + Maintains knowledge of department goals, standards, and policies, and ensures smooth communication with appropriate staff. + Demonstrates professional behavior, including excellent customer service skills and maintaining appropriate workplace conduct. + Handles patient and personnel information with strict confidentiality, ensuring the integrity and reputation of others. + Maintains CPR certification. **Education:** + Master's Degree in Speech Pathology from an accredited institution. **Experience:** + No experience required if qualifications and licensure are met. **Licensure:** + Maintain Iowa state Speech licensure and meet professional education standards. **Shift:** Full Time Days **Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion** Trinity Health is one of the largest not-for-profit, Catholic healthcare systems in the nation.
