**Location** : Plainsboro, NJ
**Hours:** once a week 6-8 hours, preferably Fridays.
**Responsibilities:**
+ In this role, the speech therapist provides speech, swallowing and feeding services independently for medically complex infants in our level III NICU and acute care adults. The Speech-Language Pathologist provides speech, language and dysphagia services in accordance with the Standards of Practice of the American Speech Language Hearing Association, the Licensure Board of New Jersey and the Bylaws of the Princeton HealthCare System. Speech-Language Pathology practice involves the examination, evaluation, treatment and instruction of patients and their family members for the prevention, habilitation, and rehabilitation of speech, language, learning, processing, cognition and swallowing disorders. Such practice includes but is not limited to the infants, children and adults with disorders in aphasia, articulation, auditory processing, dysfluency, dysphagia, foreign accent, hearing impairment, language impairment, laryngectomy, learning disability, memory disorder, neurogenic disorders, oral-motor dysfunction, and vocal pathology.
+ The Speech-Language Pathologist provides speech, language and dysphagia services in accordance with the Standards of Practice of the American Speech Language Hearing Association, the Licensure Board of New Jersey and the Bylaws of the Princeton HealthCare System.
+ Performing and interpreting clinical and objective swallowing/feeding studies (i.e. modified barium swallow, fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing) • Establishing the safest and least restrictive diet
+ Developing and implementing feeding/swallowing plans of care with aspiration precautions
+ Evaluating the safety of restarting/modifying oral feeds (i.e., post-intubation, or aspiration event)
+ Facilitating advancement of diet as appropriate • Weaning from tube feeding/enteral nutritional support
+ Collaborate with NICU interdisciplinary team as necessary
+ Evaluates clinical findings to determine rehab diagnosis and outcomes of care; Designs a plan of care that integrates the goals, treatment, outcomes and discharge plan. Performs interventions in a competent manner assessing the response to care. Adapts delivery of care to reflect respect and sensitivity to individual differences; Performs reassessments as necessary. Assesses needs for other services.
**Credentials:**
+ Education o A Masters Degree or equivalent from a Speech-Language Pathology program accredited by the American Speech Language Hearing Association. o Certificate of clinical competence(CCC) o CPR certification
+ Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech Language Hearing Association or eligible to complete a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).
+ Certified Neonatal Therapist (CNT) or other NICU-specific qualification preferred
+ IBCLC/CLC preferred
+ Current Temporary or Current Permanent License as a Speech- Language Pathologist from the State of New Jersey.
**Education or Equivalent Experience:** Related Work Experience o Experience with adults, children and dysphagia preferred. o 2+ years working independently in the NICU setting required
+ Competency in Modified Barium swallow preferred
+ Basic computer skills for EMR • Weekends, Holidays and evenings as required
