Overview of the Role:
At Salesforce Marketing Cloud the role of the Splunk Engineer is essential to the success of our global cross-channel marketing software as a service platform. You will be part of a team that is responsible for ensuring that the Marketing Cloud platform is being supported by a highly available, performant series of splunk environments.

You understand and apply a wide variety of concepts, practices, and procedures of service delivery engineering, and can resolve a wide range of issues in creative ways. You are a self-starter, able to make quick, effective decisions and think outside the box. Take management requirements and are able to design and develop solutions which reduce operational complexity, operational cost, or monitoring related tasks. You work on multiple projects of moderate complexity. Demonstrate good judgment and use your expertise in selecting methods and techniques for developing solutions. Doing more with less is a challenge in which you excel.

Responsibilities:

Success will be measured by the overall performance of the team of engineers

Participate in designing, implementing and maintaining large Splunk environments, focusing on automation

Taking ownership of actions with a focus on meticulous attention to detail

Must have the ability to provide effort estimation and complete work based on a schedule of activities in coordination with Operations Manager and Project Manager.

May be required to define requirements for, and/or write/test custom tools to handle system automation tasks (installation, configuration, monitoring, etc).

Develop proof of concepts (POCs) to evaluate technology fit for real life use cases

Have the utmost standard/quality bar in code quality and efficiency

Participate in on-call rotation (approximately two times a quarter)

Required Qualifications:

2+ years of developing and running monitoring infrastructure at scale

Solid understanding of principals and concepts of modern service monitoring systems

Experience designing, implementing, and administering large Splunk environments

Have scripted using shell/Perl/python/PowerShell to automate repeatable tasks such as deployment, tuning of services

Working knowledge of configuration management tools like Ansible/Chef/Puppet/Terraform

Understanding/management of code repositories like git/perforce/svn/CVS

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience using Splunk capabilities:

Both Indexer and Search Head clustered environments

Utilizing both Event and Metric data types

Usage of Summaries and Rollups

Understanding/management of Prometheus and Grafana

Understanding/management of Fluentbit

Understanding of Containers

Knowledge of Agile Development or Scrum Project Management methodologies.

Knowledge of ITIL Industry practices.

Detailed, organized and result-oriented. Demonstrate deep analysis, problem-solving and troubleshooting expertise

Experience with cloud providers such as AWS or Azure.
