Job Summary/Description:
The Weekend Sports Anchor/Reporter position is for a voracious news gatherer. The primary responsibilities of this position are to shoot, report, and edit local sports stories for First Alert 6 broadcasts on-air and on all digital platforms. Anchor sportscasts in weekend newscasts.
Duties/Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following:
• Develop, report, and cover local sports stories
• Shoot and edit sports video
• Find and report high-quality stories that target our key/core viewers
• Live reports
• Stay current on sports topics, local teams, and local sports developments through reading, research, and contact with sports sources
• Write and post sports stories to FirstAlert6.com daily,
• Post sports stories/commentary on all station social media platforms
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Communication, or related field preferred but prior experience would be given consideration.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a television sports reporter.
• Strong sports knowledge is a requirement
• Good writing skills and ability to function under deadline pressure
• Shooting and video editing skills required
