Job Title: Sports Biomechanist
Salary Range: $154,000.00 – $201,000.00 /annual; plus, bonus eligibility
Summary: Be the lead diagnostician of all TPI experiences, run all data collection on all tour players visiting TPI, interpret data and provide insight into player development and help develop the deliverable / report of findings for all data collected during their visit.
Responsibilities:
Running the TPI Golf and Baseball Labs. Collecting performance data on all players using the AMTI force plates, Swing Catalyst Hitting plates and Qualisys 3D motion capture system. Must be familiar with calibration and collection of all systems. Once the data is collected, you will develop and automate our own in-house player report of findings. Working with TPI co-founders Greg Rose and Dave Phillips, you will help design, write and program the reports using Visual 3D. These reports will continue to evolve and improve each year. Part of the job will be explaining the findings to all the parties involved. Conveying complex biomechanical concepts to non-technical partners is a critical skill that will be used daily. Part of your job will be teaching what we learn in the lab to other professionals in the sport, through our TPI Certification program. Helping teach biomechanics in TPI live seminars and on-line content is a must for this position. You will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of all technologies used in the biomechanics labs. This includes force plates, motion capture systems and high-speed video. Building relationships with all the technology vendors and outside experts to help keep all systems up to date is a big part of the job.Qualifications:
Masters or PhD in Biomechanics, Sports Science or Exercise Kinesiology. Minimum of 8 years in similar role preferably working with professional athletes or for a professional team. Proven track record of applying biomechanical principles to improve athletic performance. Experience working in an interdisciplinary team including coach, medical, strength and conditioning, and sports science is ideal. Proficiency in biomechanical hardware and software Qualisys, Visual3D. Strong data processing/analysis skills, with experience using MATLAB, Python, R, or similar tools. Strong data visualization skills, with experience producing reports for collaborators with varying knowledge levels. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex biomechanical concepts to non-technical partners.
