Sports Facilities Specialist

The sports facilities specialist assists with overseeing athletic facilities' maintenance, operation, and scheduling to ensure a safe, functional, and high-quality environment for sports programs, events, and recreational activities. This role involves coordinating facility upkeep, managing equipment, assisting with event setup and logistics, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards. The specialist works closely with coaches, staff, and external groups to optimize facility usage and enhance the overall athletic & recreation experience.About the Position In this role, you will... Program Coordination + Assist with coordinating the operation of the County’s park facilities, including gymnasium, athletic fields & courts, and/or other facilities; perform customer service, office and/or cashier function; open/close park or other facilities; unlock/lock doors and turns lights on/off; monitor facilities and amenities; record/calculate visitor counts and daily usage of facilities, explain facility procedures, rules, and regulations to visitors; report problems to supervisor or necessary law enforcement. + Greet the public; troubleshoot reservation issues; troubleshoot lighting issues during reservation; answer the telephone; gives information over the phone and in person; receive and document fees. Set up rooms/fields for activities; clean and prepare rooms/fields for programs; prepare office and facility for next day’s use; load and unload tables and chairs; remove trash after activities; assist with tournaments and special events. Work with event directors and vendors when needed. + Assist with scheduling facility reservations, coordinating with community groups and instructors, and managing activity registrations in RecTrac. Produce monthly calendars, respond to inquiries about reservations, and ensure reservations are accurate. Ensure access to all guests with reservations. Collects payments for various activities, registrations, rentals, and passes. Facility Operations + Conduct facility inspections to identify and report maintenance needs. Assist maintenance staff with field preparation, turf care, line painting, and equipment setup. Respond to emergency maintenance situations as needed. + Ensure the cleanliness of the County’s park facilities, including gymnasium, athletic fields & courts, offices, and/or other facilities; clean and/or vacuum; dust fixtures and furniture; clean counters; empty trash; freshen bathrooms; stock supplies; maintain grounds; sweep and blow debris; clean windows. + Serve as the Sports Tourism, Facilities, & Programs Division representative for the PRNR on-call team. Other duties as assigned. About the Schedule Work Hours: + Full-Time, 40 hours per week. + Must be available to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and some holidays. About You Minimum Qualifications: + High school diploma or equivalent education -AND- Three (3) years in public contact position. + Strong customer service skills. + Valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire. Preferred Qualifications: + Recreational, Athletics, or Leisure Service programming experience. Physical Demands: Employees in this role must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 lbs. Employees can use handling devices (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessive poundage of 50-plus pounds. About Everything Else Starting Pay Range: $21.85 - 24.00 per hour , based on experience.
