The Sports Nutrition Fellow will work as collaborative member of Twin Cities Orthopedics/Training HAUS & MN Vikings staff to advance the nutrition and dietetics services provided to Training HAUS & MN Vikings athletes. The individual in this position will take an active role in providing on-site nutrition support at TCO Performance Center to execute the nutrition department’s vision and strategy to enhance player performance and well-being at the Gatorade Fuel Bar.
75% time dedicated following the MN Vikings schedule, 25% time dedicated to special projects in orthopedic sports dietetics. This is anticipated to be a two-year position.
Twin Cities Orthopedics is an operating division of Infinite Health Collaborative (i-Health), a group of local medical practices, owned and led by its physicians, on a mission to give patients more control over their healthcare.
Essential Functions:
Work in partnership with dietitians at MN Vikings and Training HAUS for organization and execution of nutrition access at Gatorade fueling station including inventory management, budgetary tasks, aesthetics, education material and student-volunteer coordination Maintain operations of fueling stations including food safety and sanitation procedures, ordering, receiving and storage of nutrition products, communicating with foodservice suppliers, caterers and vendors as it pertains to fueling stations and competition meals Assists in oversight and collaboration in menu development and education in the Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center cafeteria. Helps perform body composition testing and other assessments, supporting collection and implementation of the data. Communicates information with the Head Sports Dietitian and other pertinent members of the Performance Staff at the MN Vikings. Helps provide clinical nutrition care, supplement evaluation and educational programming for the football athletes in partnership with Head Dietitian (utilizes clinical assessments including physical exams, laboratory testing, and physician diagnosis to work with the sports medicine team to treat athletes with medical issues that require clinical nutrition care; maintains knowledge of special diets, allergies, and intolerances and communicates this information with the sports medicine team and athletes to allow them to meet unique needs to compete at a professional level). Assist as needed with innovation-based research projects as assigned by Sports Dietitian at Training HAUS applicable in sports and orthopedic dietetic settings Helps implement individual, small and large group nutrition and wellness programs relating to sports performance, weight management and general health Deliver nutrition presentations and communications targeted to high school groups, individual athletes, combine and other Training HAUS athletes on-call/casual. Helps provide integrated, multi-disciplinary support around player health and performance enhancement; as such, this individual in this position will form strong collaborative relationships with other members of the performance and medical staff (e.g., strength & conditioning, sports medicine, sport science, coaching). Ensure goals and strategies of TCO are implemented in the growth and development of nutrition services and sports performance partnership Practice within the scope of the MN State rules/regulations Any and all other duties as assignedEducation and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree from institution credentialed by Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics and (ACEND) Completed ACEND accredited supervised practice program Attained Registered Dietitian (RD, RDN) credentials through Commission on Dietetic Registration (including state licensure for Minnesota within 30 days upon hire). Certifications relevant to degree (RD/RDN & LD/LDN required); working towards a CSSD credential (Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics) is preferred. Two or more years of hands-on experience of working as a dietitian in a multi-disciplinary performance team/athletic organization and/or football programs preferred Competence with nutrient analysis programs and Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams). First Aid and CPR certifications.Benefits & Compensation:
