The Sports Psychologist is a full-time, 12-month shared position between the Oakland University Counseling Center (OUCC) and the Oakland University Athletic Department. The position will provide counseling services to athletic constituents and will be housed in the Graham Health Center. The position will report to the Director of the Counseling Center and work closely with the athletic department.

Master’s degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Specialized training in sport psychology and/or AASP certification, OR minimum of three years clinical experience and sports psychology experience and/or experience working with Division I collegiate (and/or elite) athletes. Licensed or license eligible as a Psychologist in the State of Michigan (must obtain license within six-months of hire). Experience in conducting short-term psychotherapy with a diverse population of students, staff and faculty; including crisis work, psychological evaluations, consultations, group therapy, outreach/prevention services, and writing timely psychological notes and reports. Ability to establish and maintain psychoeducational programming for the athletic department. Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills that enable interaction with athletic staff, sport medicine staff, colleagues, administrators, faculty, and student-athletes. Ability to work within a multidisciplinary treatment team and to case manage referrals to campus and community partners. Knowledge of NCAA and industry rules and regulations. Flexible work schedule required. Position may require early mornings, evening, and weekend hours.
