Job Summary/Description:

KCRG-TV9 is seeking a sports reporter to join its newsroom. This position should expect to be pushed to find and cover sports news and stories that appeal to a wide audience that includes non-sports fans more than games and highlights. You'll work with a three-person sports team to cover issues around the University of Iowa, high school sports, youth sports, and other sports and rec teams for both newscasts and digital platforms.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

- Identify and develop unique stories, videos, and other content
- Shoot and edit video
- Write copy for newscast and digital formats
- Build graphics to support storytelling
- Present information on-camera
- Engage in social media to promote station coverage
- Develop and maintain sources
- Respond urgently to breaking news for both sports and news
- Represent the station in public events and settings
- Various shift work will be required; some holiday work is required
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

- High-quality shooting, writing, producing, and video editing skills
- Exceptional communication skills
- Sound ethics and judgment
- Consistent track record of meeting deadlines and producing high-level content
- Ability to work varied shifts, including overnights and weekends
- Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism, related field, or equivalent experience
- Previous experience in a professional newsroom setting preferred.
- Must pass pre-employment Motor-Vehicle Record check
