Summary
Position Highlights:
The Research Budget analysis team is responsible for budget negotiations and implementation of negotiated budgets for research clinical trials at Moffitt Cancer Center. This includes understanding and applying costs to necessary research patient care, Moffitt internal research effort and negotiating contract payments terms while working closely with industry partners, study funders, principal investigators and other research collaborators. The Supervisor of Research Budget Analysis will oversee the development, negotiation and implementation of research budgets and payment terms within the MCC Clinical Trials Management System (CTMS). The supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day functions of the budget analysts, overseeing the selection, on-boarding and training of new staff, continuing education of all team members. This position is responsible for monitoring accuracy of the budget within contracts and within Oncore to ensure quality requirements of the Center are met and ensuring compliance in all budget analysis practices. This role collaborates with Principal Investigators, Clinical Trial Business Office staff, Clinical Trial Office staff, Research Finance, monitoring, core labs, internal research clinical care teams, study funders and attorney. The Supervisor maintains clear understanding of systems and processes and can perform all aspects of the work conducted by their team. The supervisor will ensure the Key Performance Indicators (KPI), including Service Level Agreements (SLA) for activation and amendments, Quality and Productivity are measured, met, or exceeded and communicated to the team.Responsibilities:
Effectively leads the Day-today functions of the research budget analysis team for smooth and efficient function of the Clinical Trial Business Office. Adheres, maintains, monitors, and promotes the guidelines set forth in the Department and policies and procedures of the Center as they relate to budget analysis responsibilities Effectively assigns and supervises daily work of the budget analysis team team to ensure quality and timely delivery of budgets, payments terms and maintenance requests. Ensures the timely performance of follow-up activities Monitor staffing levels and assignments to ensure efficient operations and appropriate employee utilization and expense control. Supervise a production-oriented environment, monitoring staff achievement of productivity standards and providing oversight in prioritization of work to minimize financial risk to the organization Ensures clear understanding, compliance, support and follow up of automated processes Monitors calendar and form creation to respond and manage quality issues as a whole team or individually and provides responsive training and timely feedback. Assesses productivity of the team members and assigns available work appropriately. Enforces any productivity and KPI Policies Response appropriately to Audit findings Supervisor is responsible for assigning, monitoring, supporting and holding accountable to team related to work output and productivity tracking Supervisor is responsible for Training and Educating team members on processes, policies, and procedures to ensure accurate, consistent, efficient, compliant calendars Responsible for identifying and performing process improvement, from introduction to final education and resource material. Responsible for monitoring all work performed by delegates during the performance improvement process and approving or seeking approval of all work products Responsible for team specific tasks, assigned to any outside vendor. This included quality control, training and task monitoring. Responsible to reporting any vendor issues to leadership, for resolution.Credentials and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree – field of study: Business Administration, Nursing, Finance, Healthcare, or related field Five (5) years' experience inclusive of: three (3) years of direct clinical research budget negotiation experience in oncology at an academic institution two (2) years' experience in research compliance, finance, billing, coding, contract compliance or revenue recognition/integrity leading less experienced team members as a senior or mentoring capacity.Skills/Specialized Training:
Ability to manage multiple tasks appropriately, work collaboratively with others, communicate with wide variety of professionals including physicians, clinical research professionals, finance staff, etc. Demonstrated ability to build relationships with study funder and internal customers Proven understanding of budget and payment terms development and accurate Oncore budget entry, using relevant software and efficiency tools. Ability to work well under the pressure of meeting mandatory deadlines. Ability to lead a team and hold all Research Budget Analysts accountable to the requirements of the department. Ability to treat all team members fairly and within the code of conduct. Ability to accurately serve as an expert to all Moffitt team members regarding budget negotiation and budget entry tasks and represent the budget analysis team. Ability to deliver work products on time, use discretion to create work products without prompting and hold team members to timely delivery of work products.Preferred Experience:
